3 Day Cotopaxi, Quilotoa & Baños On The Andes Trip From Quit

Leave early in the morning and take “The volcanoes avenue” toward Latacunga. Cotopaxi is the highest active volcano in the world (5,897 m) located two hours from Quito. The Cotopaxi National Park allows us the opportunity to hike around the lake at foothills then we’ll visit the Interpretation´s Center where we’ll learn about the flora and the fauna of the park and the moors protected areas. After we’ll climb the volcano by vehicle until 4,500 meters from the parking area we’ll walk up until 4,800 meters where is a refuge and from there continue up to the glaciers 200 meters more, of course, all plans depend on weather and national park restrictions.

On the way to Quilotoa we will stop to visit and indigenous local house from the “Paramos”, we will observe their clothes and customs, but the most important thing is that we are going to be with them in a typical indigenous house made of straw. we will sharing with them a short moment talking, watching and learning from them, about their life and how they prepare the soil to sow. We will also visit the town of Tigua, famous for its naive paintings. We will continue up to the Quilotoa volcano, where you will be able to descend to the lake located inside the crater or just walk around the crater. After breakfast, we’ll take a walk to Agoyan Pailón del Diablo and Manto de la Novia waterfalls where it is possible to take a cable car down near the waterfall and Casa del Árbol to have a spectacular view of Baños. Lunch an return to Quito.
