  • Day 1 Day 1: Monte Amazonco Lodge - Tambopata
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 1: Monte Amazonco Lodge - Tambopata

      When you arrive at the airport or bus station of Puerto Maldonado, you will be transferred to the office of Monte Amazonรญco Lodge. You will meet a representative of our agency who will give a final briefing about your tour before you leave for your adventure. It is difficult to transport large luggage, so we suggest that you carry just what is needed for the trip. You will travel for about 2 hours by a 4-wheel-drive truck to a destination on the banks of the Tambopata River. From here, you will take a boat to the lodge "Monte Amazonรญco - Tambopata". Depending on your arrival time, you will be welcomed with either breakfast or lunch. In the afternoon, you will take an introductory walk into the rainforest where you will have the opportunity to see many animals in their natural habitat. You may see amphibians, mammals, reptiles, birds and wonderful insects. Then we will have dinner and spend the night in the lodge.

  • Day 2 Day 2: Macaw Clay Lick - Chuncho Clay Lick

      Day 2: Macaw Clay Lick - Chuncho Clay Lick

      We wake up very early, at 4:30 am, to go on an incredible journey by boat to the worldโ€™s largest macaw clay lick; El Chuncho. The journey takes about one and a half hours and on the way you will have the opportunity to see many animals such as capybaras (worldโ€™s largest rodents), tapirs, and if you are lucky, the most beautiful South American feline; the jaguar. Many of our clients have witnessed and photographed encounters with these beautiful creatures. After arrival at the macaw clay licks, you will see hundreds of parrots of 11 different species of the most colourful macaws of America: reds and greens, blues and yellows come to eat clay adjacent to the river bank. This is a necessary part of their daily diet that helps them to eliminate toxins. You will witness one of the most beautiful natural sights of birds in the world. On a good day of you will see hundreds of these wonderful animals flying over you, an experience of a lifetime. After our visit, we return to our lodge for breakfast and youโ€™ll have some time to rest. Later in the morning, you will walk through the botanical garden in the company of our guide where you can learn about the fruits, trees and medicinal plants in the area. After lunch, we visit the "Monkey Island", located in front of our lodge across the Madre de Dios River where we find different species of monkeys living on the island those species are the brown capuchin, squirrel monkey and saddle back tamarin; and return to the Lodge. In the evening we will go for caiman search, white alligators are typically found on sand banks in the Madre de Dios River for which it will need to bring a flashlight. Also, we may see some capybara too, back to lodge, dinner and rest.


  • Day 3 Day 3: Lake Sandoval (Piranha Habitat)

      Day 3: Lake Sandoval (Piranha Habitat)

      After breakfast we go by boat until the checkpoint and then we walk for about 3 km into the dense rain forest, headed to Lake Sandoval (piranha habitat); one of the largest in the Tambopata National Reserve. Here we will take a tour in a rowing boat where we will appreciate many birds and other wild animals of different species (shansho cormorant jacanas, puma heron, buzzards, howler monkey, brown capuchin monkey, tamarins and sloths). We also might meet a family of giant river otters (almost two meters long) that is in danger of extinction. Afterwards we return to the lodge to enjoy a typical Peruvian lunch. In the evening we will one more opportunity to walk and appreciate diversity of species of insects, amphibians, reptiles and other nocturnal animals. After this walk we will enjoy our dinner at the lodge and rest.

  • Day 4 Da 4: Return - Farewell

      We depart at 5.30 a.m. into the jungle, a short walk to our canopy walk-way, about 30 meters high, allowing us to appreciate the incredible nature of this area from as high as possible and we will also have a panoramic view of the Madre de Dios river. From platforms we can observe different species of birds, including toucans, macaws, and tanagers, orioles, guaranteed to be a wonderful experience. Afterwards we will have breakfast at the lodge and return to the city where we bring you back to the airport or bus station.
