In Peru, the standards of the hotel industry are different from what you may know. Here are some helpful details about each type of hosting: - Camp: thanks to the perfect organization of our cook(s) and muleteer(s), you will be able to rest after a good day of hiking! Are you sure! We have a kitchen tent, a dining tent, a bathroom tent. For two people, we provide a 3-person tent for added comfort. We also put at your disposal a comfortable mattress and a basin with hot water at the beginning and end of the day for your toilet; and of course, we prepare hot and complete meals for you.

  • Day 1 Day 1: Cusco โ€“ Piskacucho โ€“ Wayllabamba

      Day 1: Cusco โ€“ Piskacucho โ€“ Wayllabamba

      Early morning, we will pick you up at 4:00 am at your hotel in Cusco and travel with our private van, to the trail head called Km82 (starting point of the trek), with an opportunity to take breakfast on the way.

      Here we cruise past the first checkpoint where your passports and permits will be checked by the park rangers.

      (It is mandatory to have your original physical passport with you at this point otherwise entry to the park will not be granted)

      We will initiate our trek along the left bank of the Urubamba River that follows to the Northeast of the Urubamba valley.

      While hiking we will be able to enjoy the spectacular views of the green valleys and myriad of flora and fauna, as well as snow-capped mountains such as Veronica and Wโ€™akay Willca.

      After a 3-hour hike we arrive to the first areological sight of Llactapata located at (2,650m/8,747ft) and after a short visit we will continue with our hike for 30 minutes to Tarayoc where we will set up the tent for lunch time.

      After lunch follows a 2-hour hike to Kusichaca valley to reach our first camp site caled Ayapata lokated in a green valley and small village of Wayllabamba (3,000m / 9,900ft) where we will have some tea, dinner and spend the night in our tents.

  • Day 2 Day 2: Wayllabamba โ€“ Warmiwaรฑusca Paqaymayu

      Day 2: Wayllabamba โ€“ Warmiwaรฑusca Paqaymayu

      Day 2 is the toughest day of the trek but after a healthy breakfast, you will have all the power you need to get to our destination! We will start hiking up a moderate hill for five hours through the cloud forest to reach the highest point of our trek, the Warmiwaรฑusca pass or (Dead Woman Pass), located at 4,215m/13,907ft.

      The view from this point is great for taking photos of different microclimates in the surroundings, like magnificent mountains, beautiful green valleys and flora, and fauna as well. 

      After an enjoyable time at this beautiful sight, we descend for two hours to our second camp located (3,600m/11,877ft), where we have our lunch, have time to rest and after dinner spend the night in our tents.

      Day 3: Paqaymayu โ€“ Chaqโ€™Icocha โ€“ Phuyupatamarca โ€“ Wiรฑanwayna

      Day 3 is the longest day of our trekโ€ฏbut with a lot to see and full of excitement as the final visiting day to Machu Picchu approaches.โ€ฏAfter aโ€ฏdelicious breakfast,โ€ฏwe walk uphill for one hour to theโ€ฏarchaeological site of Runcurakay located at (3,800m/12,540ft)โ€ฏto explore its archeological site. Then we ascend to theโ€ฏRuncurakay pass located at (3,977m/13,127ft) from which, we can enjoy theโ€ฏbreathtaking surrounding mountains and lakes. 

      After enjoying all the beautiful sights, we will have short descend toโ€ฏnext archaeological site of Sayacmarca located at (3,600m/11,877ft),โ€ฏthen another short descent to Chaquicochaโ€ฏfor lunch and a short rest. 

      After lunch, we continue with an easy hike to theโ€ฏpass of Phuyupatamarca located at (3,650m/12,047ft) from which we can enjoy spectacular views of Machu Picchu Mountain, and theโ€ฏUrubamba canyon with its surrounding snow-capped mountains.โ€ฏ 

      Then we will descend through theโ€ฏcloud forestโ€ฏfor three hours, all downhill to the third campsite Wiรฑay Wayna located at (2,650m/8,747ft)โ€ฏwhere we spend the night.

  • Day 4 Day 4: Wiรฑaywayna โ€“ Machu Picchu

      Day 4: Wiรฑaywayna โ€“ Machu Picchu

      With an early wakeup at around 4:00 am, we will have breakfast and start our day 4 on the Inca trail to get to Machu Picchu for our 6:00 am entrance time at the Inti Punku Sun Gate. After walking 40 minutes, we enter to the citadel of Machu Picchu located at (2,400m/7,872 ft.) and from this point your 2 hours guided tour begins. At the control point, we will register ourselves and leave our belongings so we can walk around more comfortably!

      (Backpack that are bigger than 25L are not allowed inside the citadel)

      Machu Picchu means ยจOld Mountainยจ in Quechua. Quite often the early morning mist will envelop the site before dawn, and to watch the day progress and to see the sunburn off the mist is a thrilling sight.  

      Additional hikes need to be booked 3 to 5 months in advance as these depend on availability! these hikes need to be paid for in advance at booking!

      If chosen in advance you can climb (Huayna Picchu ($75US per person)) or (Machu Picchu Mountain ($75US per person)) to appreciate the beauty and magnificence of Machu Picchu and the valleys below from a higher viewpoint.

      After your visit, you will descend to Aguas Calientes have a leisurely lunch on your own, and later board train which departs for the return trip to Cusco stopping at the Ollantaytambo train station where our driver will be waiting for you for your return trip to Cusco.
