Itinerary of your trip Montalbano Tour: Talía E Arricriati!

  • Day 1 Day 1: Catania/ Ragusa
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 1: Catania/ Ragusa

Arrival at Catania Airport, rental car and transfer to hotel and accommodation in the reserved rooms.  At 12.00 trasfer to enjoy a wine tasting.  Organization of the day at leisure. Our advisce: Ragusa Ibla: Like a nativity scene climbing up the hill, the old center of Ragusa Ibla, even called "Iusu", down in Sicilian dialect, repeatedly dominates the scenes of the film. From the inner city of upper Ragusa it's possible to reach Ragusa Ibla from the stairs of the church " Santa Maria delle Scale": along the way a fascinating show appears: a wonderful sight above Ibla alleys, full of  white stone baroque buildings. The old town center of Ragusa Ibla rebuilt after the earthquake of 1963, which had almost completely destroyed it; today, Ibla is one of the jewels of the baroque area , well-known as " Val di Noto" and iti's considered Humane Heritage. Ibla offers many of its corners to the fictitious town town of " Vigata": in Piazza Pola Square, near the church of San Giuseppe you can find the outside of the police Station, in the square of " San Giorgio" cathedral the inspector usually drinks coffee with the other colleagues and along the road which takes the Iblean public Gardens there is also the wonderful " Circolo di Conversazione", another appearing in the film. Return to the hotel , dinner and overnight.

  • Day 2 Day 2: Noto And Siracusa
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 2: Noto And Siracusa

Di Lorenzo- Castelluccio palace and Nicolaci palace appear on the scenes together with the Church of San Francesco of Assisi and the Monastery of San Tommaso. This town is  definitely worth a trip for its beauty and it is particularly known for its traditional " Infiorata" an artistic  event that is held every year at the end of may and for which the mantle of the main streets of the city center is covered with magnificent mosaics of flowers. Breakfast at the hotel and departure to a visit to a  Unesco Site,  Noto! This small town in the south-east was founded again in the 1700’s after the earthquake that destroyed the eastern Sicily in 1693. It represents the heart and at the same time the starting point for a visit to the valley of the Sicilian Baroque. Its cathedral, also perfectly raised and rebuilt again after 10 years of difficult work, is for this good reason the symbol of the rebirth of the Baroque valley .  Lunch at  a typical restaurant  in Siracusa .In the afternoon we suggest you visit Syracuse, visit the archeological area: the Latomie with the Dyonisyous’ ear, the Roman Amphitheater and the splendid  Greek theater.  The heart  of the City is Ortigia, a beautiful little island that was the first urban settlement of Syracuse and is accessible with the Umbertino Bridge. Walking through this charming city center you can  also admire Fonte Aretusa and Maniace Castle as well as enjoy the nightlife of Syracuse, especially on summer evenings. Return to your hotel, dinner and overnight.

  • Day 3 Day 3: Puntasecca/Scicli /Modica/Ragusa
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 3: Puntasecca/Scicli /Modica/Ragusa

Vigàta and Montelusa are imaginary places that are not found on the map but geographically located in a territory between the Girgenti hill and the African sea. Semifantastic places that, despite having inaccurate and dilated borders, really exist: Porto Empedocle - Vigàta with its streets, disused factories, the Mannara, the lighthouse, the flat rock, the Salita Granet, the Marinella beach, the pier of the east, the police station in via Lincoln, the Monte Crasto and Girgenti - Montelusa with the police headquarters and the Rabat district. This is in Camilleri's books.. Breakfast at the hotel and departure to visit Puntasecca,  a small sea village  and well- known for the setting in the film of the house of Montalbano in the fictitious town of "Marinella! The house  overlooks the Mediterranean sea in which the inspector loves to go for and pleasant  swims and it is the perfect place for him to think about his investigations. Further to Scicli , one of the prides of South- east Sicily: it was included in the Human Heritage List of Unesco. This little late- baroque town radiates its bright light to tourists and its atmosphere is definitely breathtaking. In Francesco Mormino Penna  Street there is the 20th palace of the town hall, which represents the police station in the novel. Our advice: a walking tour through  the ways and the fabulous Baroque flowered balconies. Then an amazing  sensory experience  with a great variety of Sicilian herbs and plants. The intense scent around you and the magical view of the sea in front it's something you can't forget! Sicilian lunch. At the afternoon visit of Modica " A theater was the town, a proscenium of pink stone, a feast of wonders", so the author Gesualdo Bufalino describes this baroque pride, a jewel among the canyons of the plateau on which the city develops. Modica and its architecture  are filmed several times in the  TV  series as "Vigata"views. Don't lose to enjoy the majestic beauty of the Cathedral of san Giorgio, the narrow streets, the main street, the buildings and their balconies, but it is worth also due the unique flavor of this town, known worldwide for its chocolate prepared with a traditionalprocess, a special raw ancient taste that is absolutely unmissable.  Return to your hotel, dinner and overnight.
