Our friendly, qualified guides are familiar with the areas, know the ideal hiking trails for each season, the local history, the best swimming holes, the nicest restaurants and most interesting shops. The Canadian west has so many enchanting and unspoiled regions to offer, our guides show you the hidden natural treasures away from the much visited attractions. They are not merely drivers but accompany you on all hikes, and just like their guests they are looking forward to relax by the evening campfires.

Transport

You travel in a comfortable, air conditioned 15-seater minibus in small groups of up to twelve passengers plus your guide who is also the driver. Luggage, camping and group equipment is transported in a trailer.

Accommodation

We supply one tent for two persons. The tents are rated as 4-person tents. Tents come with ground sheets and one hard-foam mattress per person. With only two persons there will be plenty of room for luggage and some privacy. For families we have even larger tents which can sleep up to 6 people. If you request single accommodation, you get a 4-person tent for yourself.

Hygieneprotocol

While travelling in your Timberwolf Tours group, handwashing, sanitizing and masks will be used as per the current local Covid -19 standard. Regular hygiene, washing hands and equipment while cooking, cleaning high touch surfaces daily and maintaining distance, continue as part of our regular practice.

Not included:

Meals

Meals are not included with the price of the tour. Everybody pays into a "food kitty" at the start of the tour. The group decides the meal plan. The guide has suggestions and recipes and will gladly look after the grocery shopping. You need about $15.00 per day for the three camping meals. The guides are perfectly able to do the kitchen chores alone, but will certainly accept your help. They also appreciate your suggestions for new dishes. You will be amazed what a variety of delights can be prepared on the camp fire, fresh, healthy, balanced and abundant. Special dietary requirements can be accommodated.

  • Day 1 Day 1: Calgary, Alberta, Canada

      Day 1: Calgary, Alberta, Canada

      First easy hike This morning you meet with your guide in Calgary. On the campground (showers) in the forests of Banff National Park you pitch your tent for the next two days. Now it is time for the first hike along the shores of Minnewanka Lake, or one of the many mountain trails around Banff. Hiking time 2 โ€“ 3 hours.

  • Day 2 Day 2: Banff National Park

      Day 2: Banff National Park

      The sights of Banff On a full day hike you explore passes above the tree line and alpine meadows. For example 7.5 km with 725 m gain (4.6 mi, 2414 ft) to a small lake and possibly 2 km further into the pass at 2470 m (8225 ft). After the hike you might want to relax in the warm pool of the Sulphur Mountain Hot Springs or walk down the busy streets of Banff with its many stores and visitors from around the world . Hiking time 5 โ€“ 7 hours.

  • Day 3 Day 3: Lake Louise

      Day 3: Lake Louise

      Hiking in the high Alpine You would not want to miss the picture postcard scenery surrounding Lake Louise. The guide suggests the 3.5 km (2 mi) path with 400 m gain (1325 ft) to the historic tea house by an alpine lake. Here a network of easy to demanding trails is tempting you to go further and higher. For example the 15 km (9.3 mi) circuit into the Plain of Six Glaciers, or a 2.5 km (1.6 mi) climb with 515 m (1705 ft) gain to a summit with exceptional views of nearby peaks and distant landscapes. Camp for today and tomorrow (showers) near the alpine village of Lake Louise. Hiking time 3 โ€“ 5 hours
