Cairo, Pyramids, Sphinx & Museum Tour

Our Egyptian adventure commences with a visit to the Egyptian Museum located in the heart of Cairo. The museum is home to numerous ancient Egyptian artifacts, including the incredible Tutankhamun exhibit. Accompanying you on this and all other sightseeing tours will be one of our local Egyptologist guides, who are passionate about the history of their country and eager to share their knowledge with you.

After the museum, weโ€™ll head to Giza on the outskirts of Cairo to witness one of the most awe-inspiring sights in the world - the Sphinx and the three great pyramids of Egypt. The Great Pyramid of Khufu (Cheops), which stands at 500 feet high and has a base of 750 feet wide, is an incredible feat of engineering, constructed from giant stone blocks with a hard limestone casing. Over the years, the casing has been stripped away, revealing the inner block structure. Along with the smaller pyramids of Khafre (Chephern) and Menkaure (Mycerinus), these monumental structures rising out of the desert are a breathtaking spectacle. Youโ€™ll have the opportunity to climb down inside the pyramids if you wish, although your guide cannot accompany you. Please note that a limited number of tickets are available for the Great Pyramid.

In the evening, weโ€™ll transfer to the station to board the overnight sleeper train to Aswan, which takes approximately nine hours. While aboard the train, you can relax in your comfortable cabin and get some rest before the next exciting leg of our journey.

Aswan is a unique blend of African and Middle Eastern cultures, which can be best experienced by strolling through the busy markets and absorbing the lively atmosphere.

In the afternoon, weโ€™ll embark on a boat trip to visit the stunning Philae Temple, an island complex built in honor of the goddess Isis. • Day 5 Abu Simbel Sun Festival, Felucca Cruise
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Abu Simbel Sun Festival, Felucca Cruise

Today, weโ€™ll depart from Aswan in the early morning, and take a drive of approximately three hours to reach the UNESCO world heritage site at Abu Simbel. These magnificent temples, built by Ramses II, are among Egyptโ€™s most famous and impressive attractions. Upon arrival, our Egyptologist guide will provide us with historical explanations before we enter the temple at sunrise, where weโ€™ll witness how three out of the four statues at the end of the tunnel are illuminated, while the fourth, dedicated to Ptah, the god of Darkness, remains in shadow. Itโ€™s worth noting that Abu Simbel can be quite crowded on this day, so expect a somewhat procession-like experience.

After returning to Aswan, weโ€™ll board a traditional Nile felucca after lunchtime to embark on a leisurely sail down the Nile. This activity is one of the most enjoyable experiences Egypt has to offer, as youโ€™ll get to observe local rural Egyptian life passing you by on the banks of the river while you drift along. Our Nubian crew will sail the boat and entertain us along the way, as well as preparing delicious meals. Our separate facilities boat will join us from time to time during the day and moor up with us at night. This boat includes a hygienic kitchen, a welcome toilet, and showers, where the crew will also prepare a scrumptious evening meal. For the night, weโ€™ll sleep on the deck of the boat, with mattresses, blankets, and mosquito netsprovided.

If youโ€™d prefer, you have the option to upgrade this felucca sailboat trip to an additional night in the Aswan hotel. If you choose this option, youโ€™ll spend tonight in Aswan and re-join the group tomorrow morning as we begin our journey to Luxor. All other touring activities remain the same, and you wonโ€™t miss out on any of the exciting experiences that await us in Luxor.

The west houses the City of the Dead, along with Mortuary Temples and rocky tombs, while the east is home to the Temples of Luxor and Karnak.

In the evening, weโ€™ll embark on a walking tour of the smaller Luxor Temple, which is located right in the heart of the town and is beautifully illuminated at night. This is a fantastic opportunity to witness the templeโ€™s grandeur and beauty in a unique and atmospheric way.
