      Day 2: Sightseeing Of Buddhist Heritage Sites Such As Swoyambhunath, Boudhanath And Kapan. Overnight In Kathmandu.

      After having breakfast in the morning, the tour guide will pick up you from your hotel for the day tour. Today, you will visit the UNESCO listed world heritage sites of Kathmandu including Swayambhunath and Boudhanath and additionally, you will be taken to Kapan, the famous place for Buddhism. In the evening, we will back to our hotel and overnight stay at hotel in Kathmandu.

      Swoyambhunath: This is one of the UNESCO listed world heritage sites of Kathmandu dedicated to Tibetan Buddhism. Here,  the dome shaped Buddhist Stupa was built 2500 years ago when Kathmandu was under the influence of Tibetan rulers. The Stupa is situated to the west of the Kathmandu on the top of a hill surrounded by the green forests. The Stupa is further famous as a monkey temple. There are stupas, statues, statues, and shrines and all of them are dedicated to Buddha. In addition to this, you can find the monastery, museum and library in its periphery.

      Boudhanath: Boudhanath is also a world heritage monument located north of Kathmandu. The stupa is dome shaped spherical that upholds the all seeing pair of eyes of Buddha. It is believed that the stupa have been built by Tibetan emperor in some 2500 years ago. The stupa has been totally rebuilt after its destruction by the earthquake of 2015. 

      Kapan: Kapan Monastery is one of the most popular Buddhist monastery in Kathmandu Valley, located north of Kathmandu. Zopa Rinpoche has established the monastery. The monastery has a monastic school for 360 monks from Nepal and Tibet along with 380 nuns who live neary Khachoe Ghakyil Ling Nunnery. Overnight stay at Kathmandu.

      Patan is the southern outskirt city of Kathmandu Valley. It successfully preserves its ancient art, artefacts and historical prospects for centuries. Once in history, Patan had remained a distinct administrative centre. Furthermore, it had its own Royal Palace Square including several temples, monuments, and squares. The city is an old centre of Buddhism that developed and preserved several Stupas and Monasteries within. Hence, it has become famous for the historical city since ancient time. 

      The four Ashokas stupas are a testimony to ancient culture, tradition, and lifestyle of the Kathmandu Valley that spread around Patan. The legend has claimed that the four ancient stupas marking the boundaries of Patan and it was built by the great Buddhis emperpr Ashoka. Ashoka is the one who expanded Buddhism far and wide, came to the Valley in the 3rd century BC.  He further built four stupas in four corners of the Patan city. The four Ashokan stupas are worth for quick visit especially during the auspicious full moon of the August. During the day, the Buddhist and Tibetan pilgrims walk around all four stupas in a single day. Overnight stay at Kathmandu.

      Wake up early and start the day with a warm breakfast. The tour guide from Oriental Journeys will meet you at the hotel and brief you about the details of the tour. After this, you will drive to the famous Buddhist site of Namo Buddha where you will spend the day by sightseeing around the local attractions. In the late afternoon, you will drive back to your hotel. Overnight stay at hotel in Kathmandu. 

      Namo Buddha: Namo Buddha is one of the most important Buddhist sites in Nepal and it has been visited by the pilgrims and tourists round the year. The word Namo Buddha literally means "Hail to Buddha"and it is located 40 km east of Kathmandu at an altitude of 1750m. There is a belief that Shakyamuni Buddha as a prince had sacrificed himself to feed a hungry tigers and her cub in his early stage of life. Even the statues of the prince has been preserved in Namo Buddha in the sacrificial act. Today, a monastery has been built nearby and it has become the house of hundreds of monks from Nepal and Tibet. Besides this, the site overlooks the beautiful vista of the ancient town of Panauti at it lies comparatively in the high altitude. And this affords a splendid views of the mountains as well as the valley of Panauti. Overnight stay at Kathmandu.

      Early morning drive to Lumbini and around 8-9 hours, you will reach Lumbini by following the Prithivi Highway and east west highway. Lumbini is one of the famous world heritage sites of Nepal and it is the birthplace of Lord Buddha. Budhha is the founder of Buddhism and the apostle of peace. It lies in the southwestern region of Nepal in Terai. Since this is the worldโ€™s greatest pilgrimage centres every year thousands tourists and pilgrims visit to this sacred site and pay their respect and tribute to the Lord Buddha. Besides this, Lumbini preserves the archaeological remains of the palaces, ponds, courtyards, stones, statues that date back to some 2500 years ago. Similarly, there is a sacred garden at the heart of the Lumbini which spreads around 9 km and this is exactly the same place where Buddha was born as  Prince Sidhartha Gautam. The nativity sites is marked by a Ashokan Pillar which was erected by Emperor Ashoka in 249 BC. Furthermore, the marker stone that is discovered in Mayadevi Temple stands adjacent to this pillar is regarded as the exact spot where Sidhartha Gautam was born. Likewise, Puksarini pond is another sacred site in the Garden and where Queen Mayadevi is believed to have taken bath before giving birth to Buddha. Besides this, Lumbini has 62 archaeological sites scattered around which includes Tilaurakot, Kudan, Gothihawa, Niglihawa, Sagarhawa, Aurakot, Devadaha and Ramagrama.  Since each sites hold significance in the life of Buddha and these places are highly recommended for any visitors. Likewise, Buddhist library, crane sanctuary, world peace stupa, international monastic zones and numerous monasteries, stupas and viharas are another importance for visiting Lumbini.Overnight stay at hotel in Lumbini.

      Early morning drive to Pokhara which takes about 5 hours to reach to Pokhara, a city of Lake. You can spend your afternoon roaming around Phewa Lake and Bindabasini temple and enjoy evening dinner at the lakeside by enjoying the beautiful colours of Phewa lake. Overnight stay at Pokhara.

      After having breakfast at hotel, you will take a short drive to Sarangkot, at an altitude of 1600m. Sarangkot is a famous viewpoint for sunrise and mountain views. In the afternoon, you will have another pleasant moment of hiking to World Peace Stupa which offers the superb views of Pokhara valely, Phewa Lake and Annapurna mountain ranges. Overnight stay at hotel in Pokhara.

      TTake an early morning drive to Kathmandu. The entire journey takes about 6-7 hours. During the drive, you can enjoy with the scenic ride with beautiful green hills in the surrounding, rivers and villages. In the afternoon, you have free time to do shopping in Thamel.
