It has been revived in the Middle Ages because Sibiu acted as the European Capital of Culture in 2007, and it played a very important economic and confessional role in the 15th and 16th centuries, and then reached its highest development during the seventeenth century, when the governor of Transylvania decided to settle permanently in this beautiful city. We will leave Sibiu and head to discover the beauties of another city, Sighisoara, whose old town is a UNESCO heritage, a place which tourists love because it is one of the few fortified cities founded in the 12th century still inhabited. We will see its painted houses with bright colors, the famous Clock Tower, its worship places, both Catholic and Evangelical, and the famed school ladder. We will then find out how it is possible to have lunch at Vlad Draculaโ€™s house. This mysterious historical character, in fact, was born right in the heart of Transylvania and spent here, in Sighisoara, the very first years of his life. Then there is another stop to see Rupeaโ€™s fortress externally. We will arrive in Brasov where weโ€™ll visit the old town with its imposing black church, dating back to the end of the 14th century. Overnight in a 3* hotel in Brasov or Poiana Brasov.

      Day 3: Brasov โ€“ Bran โ€“ Peles โ€“ Bucharest

We leave the beautiful Brasov and head to Bucharest. Weโ€™ll stop at Bran and finally visit the famous castle founded by Teutonic knights during the twelfth century which became the favorite residence of the generous and beloved Queen Mary in 1920. It is a Gothic, mysterious and elegant building, typically medieval at the exterior, traditionally Roman in point of interior decoration.  Visit to the fabulous Peles Castle, the summer residence of the first king of Romania, the King Charles 1 of Hohenzollern, of German origins. The castle was beautifully designed by a Czech architect, and is famous for being one of the most modern castles in Europe at the time of its construction, between the 19th and 20th centuries. Each room is characterized by a unique style, different from the styles of the other rooms. We will also admire the Florentine room, where we will breathe a typically Italian and Renaissance atmosphere. After we leave Sinaia, we  go to Snagov to visit the monastery which probably shelters Vlad Draculaโ€™s tomb.
