Accommodation

The style of accommodation indicated in the day-to-day itinerary is a guideline only and may change. On some occasions, alternative arrangements may need to be made due to the lack of availability of rooms in our preferred accommodation. In these cases, we will use a similar standard of accommodation. Throughout the trip, we request that our properties prepare rooms in time for our arrival, especially if weโ€™re arriving prior to normal check-in time. However, this isnโ€™t always possible which means we wonโ€™t be able to check-in immediately on arrival at some hotels. Instead, we can store our luggage and explore our new destination or on some trips, have use of shared day rooms until all rooms are available. Hotel (3 nights)

Guide

AUSTRALIA LEADERS: All group trips are accompanied by a group leader. In Australia your group leader is often also your driver, taking you from start to finish. The aim of the group leader is to take the hassle out of your travels and to help you have the best trip possible. Your leader will provide information on the places you are travelling through, offer suggestions for things to do and see, as well as recommend great local eating venues. They will also introduce you to our local friends along the way. Please be aware they will be juggling many things on your tour and on some days may have less time to spend with you. But they will always be working hard to ensure you and your group have a fantastic time exploring Australia!

Youโ€™ll have a welcome meeting at 11 am this morning, then youโ€™ll head to Port Arthur (approx 1.5 hours) to visit this Historic Site โ€“ a former convict settlement with a horrific past where youโ€™ll learn about the history of this former penal colony with an audio experience and a short boat cruise.โ€ฏAfter, drop into a local distillery for an optional tasting before checking out Remarkable Cave and getting a glimpse of the stunning beach scenery. Head to your waterside accommodation at Eaglehawk Neck on the Tasman Peninsula then join your group for a delicious, included dinner tonight and get to know each other a little better.

This morning after breakfast, drive down the beautiful Tasman Peninsula, passing through the narrow sliver of Eaglehawk Neck. Stop at Tasman Arch, Devilโ€™s Kitchen and the Tessellated Pavement to view the unusual rock formations. Head back to Hobart, where the vibrant Salamanca Markets await, ready to tempt you with local delights. Find everything from fresh produce to handmade crafts here โ€“ itโ€™s a must-do for any Hobart visit.โ€ฏAfter lunch head to piyura kitina (Risdon Cove). Here, youโ€™ll join a bush tucker experience and learn all about the culturally rich landscape with a palawa (Tasmanian Aboriginal) guide. Taste some bush tucker, listen to cultural stories and walk the landscape. Tonight, youโ€™re free to relax at your accommodation in Hobart or maybe head out with your group for dinner at one of the popular restaurants.

Today, youโ€™ll drive to the top of kunanyi / Mount Wellington to take in some magnificent views over the city and its surrounding mountains, forests and waterways. Then, drive into the Hartz Mountains wilderness, where youโ€™ll explore the remote and rugged place shaped by ancient glaciers on a few short walks. Next, head to Geeveston โ€“ a small township known for its forestry heritage, then continue up the Huon Valley and visit a honey farm and a cidery, where youโ€™ll learn about the history of local apple farming in the valley, maybe with a few cider samples from the fourth-generation orchard (optional). Return to Hobart for your final night together.

  • Day 4 Day 4: Bruny Island / Hobart
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 4: Bruny Island / Hobart

This morning youโ€™ll hop on the ferry over to Bruny Island โ€“ one of the most gorgeous spots in Tassie! Explore South Bruny National Park, where the Cape Bruny Lighthouse perches high above the wild waves of the Southern Ocean.โ€ฏStop in at a few local shops for tastings of locally sourced products such as oysters, honey, cheese and beer. Then, stop at a local producer where youโ€™ll taste pairings of local beer or wine and then head back to Hobart where your trip will come to an end.
