Day 2: Journey and history Northern Belize
Stop At: Museum of Belize, Belize City Belize
Built between 1854 and 1857 as a Her Majestyโs Prison while the area was still a British colony. It was the Belize City Prison until 1993. It remained closed until 2002 when it was restored and renovated into a national museum. Today important Mayan cultural and colonial artifacts,pictures, paintings and historical documents are housed at the museum for the Public to experience.

Belize has its fair share on Maya Temples and historical locations of the ancient Maya civilization but none can quite compare to the prestige and popularity of the countyโs most loved and well known Maya city, Altun Ha.Altun Ha is located 31 miles north of Belize City on the Old Northern Highway. For those who wish to experience the magnificence and beauty of this most prized Maya site, Altun Ha is open all year round and offers many amenities and activities including, hiking trails, picnic pavilion, gift shops, and of course the opportunity to climb atop the wonderful ancient Maya structures that were a part of the great civilization.

Day 4: Corozal District- Wildlife/ Mayan Ancient History
Stop At: Cerros Archaeological Reserve, Near Cerros Beach Resort, Cerros Belize
Cerros Maya Archaeological Reserve is located on a peninsula across from the town of Corozal on the coast of the Corozal Bay Northern Belize. Archaeological research at the site suggests that it functioned as an important coastal trading center during the Late Preclassic Period (c.a 350 B.C. to A.D. 250). Its tallest temple rises 21 meters above the plaza floor and overlooks the Caribbean Sea which has been steadily eroding numerous prehistoric buildings along the north coast of the site.
