Beer Tour Of Slovenia - The Ultimate Beer Experience

Itinerary

Day 1: Slovenia - Ljubljana

Stop At: Ljubljana, Ljubljana, Upper Carniola Region
In the morning meet and greet your guide and travel companions in the lobby of the hotel / airport. After becoming acquainted with each other we shall take a walking tour of the city centre of Ljubljana. The old city centre has a unique architectural appearance, particularly due to its mixture of Baroque and Art Nouveau architecture with masterful creations by the 20th century architect Jože Plečnik. The funicular will take us to the Castle of Ljubljana situated above the town. We shall spend some time admiring the magnificent view, which on a sunny day stretches all the way to the Alps. Upon our return to the old city centre we will stop to enjoy an introductory tasting with a variety of craft beers and snacks. Then we shall visit the Brewery Museum at the Union Brewery, where we will learn about the brewing process and Slovenia’s beer culture. After an educational visit we shall have an early dinner in the Union Pivnica where we can enjoy traditional local dishes with a glass of beer. We suggest ending the day with a boat cruise on the Ljubljanica River or with a visit to one of Ljubljana’s many pubs. Overnight in a centrally located four-star hotel.

Stop At: Ljubljana Old Town, Ljubljana Slovenia

The funicular will take us to the Castle of Ljubljana situated above the town. We shall spend some time admiring the magnificent view, which on a sunny day stretches all the way to the Alps.

we shall visit the Brewery Museum at the Union Brewery, where we will learn about the brewing process and Slovenia’s beer culture. After an educational visit we shall have an early dinner in the Union Pivnica where we can enjoy traditional local dishes with a glass of beer.

Day 2: Ljubljana - Vršič Pass - Soča Valley - Nova Gorica - Vipava Valley - Postojna Cave - Vrhnika - Ljubljana

Stop At: Vrsic Pass - Julian Alps, Kranjska Gora 4270 Slovenia
At an elevation of 1611m this is the highest mountain pass in Slovenia and the highest in the Eastern Julian Alps, presenting a breathtaking alpine panorama up to Triglav, the highest mountain of Slovenia. The Vršič Pass links the Upper valley of the Sava River with the Trenta Valley.

Stop At: Soca Valley, Bovec Slovenia
We shall continue our drive to Bovec where we will go rafting on the rapids of the emerald Soča River or ziplining through the Valley of the Ujča river.

Stop At: Vipava, Vipava, Inner Carniola Region
Drive to the Vipava Valley (Ajdovščina), where we will have a tasting of beer with authentic Vipava Valley dishes. We will try beers from the Reservoir Dogs and Pelicon microbreweries. They produce stout, ale and IPA.

Stop At: Postojna Cave, Jamska cesta 30, Postojna 6230 Slovenia
Visit of the famous underground world of the Postojna Cave. It is one of the best-known caves in the world, and the greatest tourist attraction in Slovenia. For 140 years, the Postojna Cave has been the only cave in the world to offer a uniquely adventurous ride with a special cave train, which will take you into the heart of the cave, through spectacular underground arches embellished with chandelier-like stalactites, through a beautiful subterranean world full of playful limestone sculptures. The cave is special and famous for its unique inhabitant, the human fish or olm – some like to call it the dragon’s offspring.

Stop At: Vrhnika, Vrhnika, Inner Carniola Region
drive to Vrhnika to visit the Human Fish Brewery to try their pale ale, stout and IPA.

Stop At: Ljubljana, Ljubljana, Upper Carniola Region
Back to Ljubljana for dinner in a local restaurant. Overnight.

Day 3: Ljubljana - Olimije - Laško

Stop At: 3254 Olimje, Slovenia
Drive to the village of Olimje. The center of this area boasts a renovated monastery complex including a castle and church, which is adorned with a gold and black baroque altar. In the castle tower, visitors will find a celebrated pharmacy, enriched with frescos, it is one of the oldest preserved monastic pharmacies in Europe. There is a possibility to buy herbal tea and other products. A few minutes’ drive from monastery stands the small Haler brewery and pub. We shall visit the brewery, take-in a presentation of the production and taste a beer with sausage.

Stop At: Pivovarna Lasko, Trubarjeva ulica 28, Lasko 3270 Slovenia
hen on to Laško to visit the Laško Brewery. Its capacities and technological equipment place the Laško Brewery at the very top of the European brewing industry. We shall visit the Laško Museum, take a guided tour of the brewery, taste beer and other brewery products.

Stop At: Zdraviliski Park, Lasko 3270 Slovenia
swim and relax at the Thermana Laško until dinner (buffet dinner in hotel restaurant). Overnight.

Day 4: Laško - Lower Savinja Valley - Celje - Laško

Stop At: Zalec, Zalec, Styria Region
After breakfast, we shall drive to the Valley of Green Gold with its king – hops. We will stop in Žalec to visit the Eco-Museum of Hop-Growing and Brewing Industry Slovenia, then relax at the “World’s first beer fountain” where we may taste various Slovenian beers. Our next stop will be the Green Gold Brewery, where we will visit the brewery and taste a variety of beer

Stop At: Celje Castle, Cesta na Grad 78, Celje 3000 Slovenia
the city famous for the Counts of Celje. We shall take a walk around the castle and then visit Frederick’s Tower to enjoy a spectacular view of the city below. At the castle we will experience virtual reality – fighting with medieval knights.

Stop At: Lasko, Lasko, Styria Region
drive back to Laško - spa town, where the largest brewery in Slovenia stands. We can enjoy a swim and relaxing massage at the hotel accommodation until dinner (a la carte beer menu). Overnight.

Day 5: Laško - Airport
