Day 2: Bangkok - City Temples + Grand Palace + Thonburi Canal Tour (B, L)

Take on no less than four of Bangkokโ€™s finest temples and a tour around the cityโ€™s fascinating canals. Start out at Wat Traimit - home to the worldโ€™s largest solid golden Buddha - before hopping across the old city streets to see an even larger Buddha statue at Wat Pho. Hop across the road to the next stop, the magnificent Grand Palace, another sprawling temple complex boasting some of the finest Thai-Buddhist architecture in the entire country. Explore the vast grounds and numerous dazzling buildings, including the highly-revered Wat Phra Kaew, home to the prized Emerald Buddha statue dating back to the 14th Century.

After grabbing lunch, spend the better part of the afternoon on the water, meandering through the quaint canals and taking in the quieter side of life from the seat of a traditional โ€˜long tailโ€™ boat. Of course, a tour of Bangkokโ€™s Thonburi side isnโ€™t complete without the spectacular and iconic Wat Arun - take time to explore the iconic temple towering 79 metres over the Chao Phraya River.

Chiang Mai, one of the largest cities in Thailand and the cultural and business centre of northern Thailand, is overflowing with ancient Buddhist Temples, each with their own unique design and history. In this half-day tour, visit four of the most iconic temples as well as a mountaintop temple, while driving past city markets, residential areas and Chiang Maiโ€™s main street.

After you descend the mountain, drive through the city to begin your temple hopping. First up is Wat Chedi Luang, a Lanna-style chedi that was once one of the tallest structures in ancient Chiang Mai. Next, visit Wat Phra Singh, or Temple of the Lion Buddha, where you can view a collection of classic Lanna art and explore an old library. Finally, wander the gardens at Wat Suan Dok, Flower Garden Temple, where you can check out a 500-year-old bronze Buddha statue, one of the largest in Thailand.

      Day 5: Elephant Nature Park (B, L)

Enjoy a half-day morning visit to Elephant Nature Park; a rescue and rehabilitation centre for elephants, as well as many other rescued animals.

Your visit starts with a picturesque drive through rural countryside to Elephant Nature Park. On the way you will learn about the rescued and orphaned elephants and their individual stories. At the park you will have the opportunity to spend time with the various herds. Many of these elephants have left behind a traumatic past and for the first time are able to form relationships with other elephants and rediscover their elephant nature.
