Day 1: Seoulย โ€“ Gapyeongย - Sokcho

This garden is the oldest private garden in Korea. It is an artistic space with a beautiful balance between the Korean concept of natural curves with asymmetry, and plants with synthetic materials. Attracting about 600,000 visitors annually, the garden's name has been taken from a poem written by Sir Tagore, a great Indian poet, who described Korea during the Joseon Dynasty as "The Land of the Morning Calm."

Gangchon Rail Bike or Petite France

Deserted railroads gone out of operation were transformed to present its visitors a unique bike ride experience through the scenic hills and themed caves. Up to 4 people can pedal a single vehicle together, which can speed up to 15 km/h.

Petite France is a French cultural village set in the Korean countryside. It consists of 16 French-style buildings where visitors can lodge and experience French food, clothing, and household culture. As the sunlight seep through the morning mist, the entire valley of Mt. Seoraksan shine in copper and gold. We will venture out together in magical valleys and taste Oseak, the region's famous mineral water.

Being the first to change its color in South Korea for their high altitude, this widely beloved, 1,700 meters tall mountain owns such mesmerizing views, impressive waterfalls, and renowned hot springs.

There are several hiking courses varying in distance and duration, and we will take a route of your preference. We'll also take a cable car to Gwongeumseong.

Built in the mid 7th ceuntury, Sinheung-sa is believed to be the oldest Zen Buddhist temple in the world.

The trail to the temple starts from a giant iron Buddha statue known as Tongil Daebul. This masterful statue was erected in the 1990's to symbolize the Korean people's hope for the reunification of North and South Korea. The almost-smiling Buddha adds a sense of serenity and spirituality to the park.

Stopping again to marvel at the view of stunning valley, Sinheungsa Temple comes into view under the sharp, jagged peaks of Mt. Seoraksan.

Mt. Odaesan(1,563m) has the largest natural forest of Korea, home to many wild animals and plants. The area of Birobong Peak is famous for its Yew tree forest. The mountain is also a home to a variety of Korean cultural properties. During the Joseon Dynasty, an archive was built here to house one of the four Annals of the Joseon Dynasty. Many hermitages and temples abound in the mountain, creating a uniquely spiritual ambiance. There are no steep valleys in the mountain, enabling the relatively easy and safe trekking into the splendid nature. Animals such as boars, musk deer, turtledoves and colorful woodpeckers living here. Nowadays, it is remembered as a famous film location of popular Korean drama, Goblin.

Located within the pristine beauty of Mt. Odaesan, Woljeongsa Temple recently rose in popularity thanks to appearing in the drama 'Goblin.' After walking along Haetalgyo Bridge and the fir forest path which appeared in the drama, you will be led into the secluded temple of long history. Having been first built in AD 643, the temple preserved many national treasures of unique qualities from the ancient eras.

Day 3: Seoul

We will first visit a Hanbok Rental shop to try the Korean traditional dress(Optional). You can stroll inside Gyeongbukgung palace wearing Hanbok. Wearing the dress will leave you both a special memory and dreamy pictures.

Situated at the top of Gwanghwamun Square, the presence of Gyeongbukgung palace gleams brightly in the central spine of the nation. As the first and largest palace built by Joseon Dynasty in 1395, the grand villa consisted of 330 buildings and had up to 3,000 staffs.

Before entering to explore the palace, we will also watch the changing ceremony of royal guards. This enactment is an excellent opportunity to experience a rare tradition, performed exactly as it used to be held. Guards appear wearing royal uniforms, carrying traditional weapons and playing traditional instruments.

Its garden is renowned for its outstandingly flamboyant themes, changing the outlook every season. The grandiose annual lantern festival in celebration of Buddhaโ€™s birth takes place here.

Ssamziegil Plaza is a retail center with 4 floors of fashion, art & home goods shops. It is most frequented by youths inspired by their creatively designed, decorative goods. Check out the handcraft stores and art galleries through the connected pathways.

Coming down the floor is Insadong Area. Insadong is a district well-known for hosting generations-old antique and traditional craft stores of all kinds, ranging from ceramics, caligraphy, and theater masks to embroidery. Afterwards, you should enjoy a cup of traditional jujube tea in an old cafe secluded in small streets!

Haneul Park (Sky Park) is full of lush eulalia and is home to the Seoul Silver Grass Festival, held every year in October when the grass is in full bloom. Originally a site of waste disposal, the area was revitalized in commemoration of 2002 World Cup. What puts this park different than others is that the park is run only by renewable natural energy, mostly through windmills. Many migrant birds pass here every year on their way south.

Check out the trendiest neighborhoods for the young Koreans today! Hongik University is renowned for their art degree program. The cheap rent around the area originally accumulated many artists to settle down, creating a unique atmosphere. The place has grown so popular in recent years and you will be met by many groups of street singers and dancers busking at the site. Needless to mention, the area is always full of stores displaying fashionable and creative goods of all kinds.

Take in the breathtaking 360-degree view of the Seoul Metropolis! The top of the tower is at almost 480m above sea level, including Namsan Mountain(243m) and the towerโ€™s own height(236.7m).

The tower was first established as a broadcast tower to send out TV and radio signals in 1969. As of now, it has become one of the representative landmarks and multi-cultural venues in Seoul. At the tower, you can check out other highlights including the famous 'Locks of Love' and ancient beacon mounds. The entry to the observatory deck is not included, but you can still enjoy a grandiose view from the park outside the tower.

The streets are filled with abundance of street food vendors. Enjoy your evening in this town, which seems to have forgotten the night.

Also referred as โ€˜Sunrise Peakโ€™, this archetypal tuff-cone structure rose from the shallow sea by hydro-volcanic eruptions 5,000 years ago. Climbing to the top, you can find a grass-filled crater surrounded by numerous sharp rocks. This colossal footprint left by nature is a UNESCO World Heritage and also a habitat for 200 types of trees and wild animals.

Japanese empire dig holes on the walls of this lava structure, using them to hide military camps. Now they are used by Haenyeos as their diving platforms. Haenyeos are female divers who dive into the ocean water to gather various shellfish, seaweed, etc, without using any underwater diving equipment. Their unique way of life and culture were inscribed as UNESCO Intangible Heritage of the World. You can watch their performance nearby.

At this museum of teddy bears, you can learn everything about teddy bears, and will be entertained by their unique collection of dolls. Famous artistic works, fairy-tales and traditions of various countries are recreated by using the bear dolls.

Hallasan Mountain is widely known by scientists for its geological value. Designated as a national park in 1970, there are 368 parasitic volcanoes called Oreums (peaks) around the main mountain.

You will take Eorimok trail(Northwest): This short trail is another relatively easy trail for beginners. In spring, the nearby meadows are adorned with red royal azaleas. From the stone pathway to Manse Dongsan, visitors can catch a breathtaking panoramic view of the countryside and the islandโ€™s signature Oreums.

Moving past a flock of pine tree forest, we will find a beach filled with a group of mysterious, black rock pillars in shapes of cubes and hexagons in varying sizes. These rocks almost seem as carved by human hands. Formed by the cooling and solidification of lava flows, the columnar jointing arose from contraction of molten lava during cooling. This is a unique sight designated as natural monument of Jeju Island.

Cheonjiyeon Falls OR Jeongbang Waterfall

The legend behind Cheonjiyeon Falls is told that seven fairies serving the King of Heaven came down to the pond on stairs of clod and bathed in the clean waters. The waterfall itself is 22 meters high and 12 meters wide. This national natural monument is also known as a famous eel-fish habitat. The forest nearby contains a variety of rare plants such as brambles.

OR You can choose to visit Jeongbang Waterfall instead: Jeongbang Waterfall is a magical waterfall that directly descends into the ocean. Such feature cannot be found anywhere else in Asia. Next to the waterfall is an inscription on stone referring to a passage of a royal servant from Chinese Qin Dynasty, ordered by the emperor to find an elixir for permanent life.

Camellia Hill is a camellia arboretum created in a plot of land in Jeju Island. The arboretum is home to 6,000 camellia trees of 500 different species including species that are known to produce the worldโ€™s largest and earliest blossoms.

Spirited Garden was first launched in 1968 when its director Bum-Young Sung set his mind on developing a piece of deserted wasteland. Through endless trials and errors, the wasteland was designated as the number 1 private garden in South Korea.

40,000 square meters of land is divided into seven gardens and each garden is connected by a stone bridge. Grown out of long-term observation and meditation over art and life, Spirited Garden has been called one of the most beautiful garden in the world, attracting world celebrities and leaders. Mr. Sung's story of creating the garden was featured in Chinese textbooks as a model example of determined Korean spirit, along with the miracle of Han River.

Walking past the herculean rocky peaks along our trail, we will soon be arriving in Naejangsa Temple, warmly nested by the hills.

In the company of numerous hikers who come to enjoy the season's autumn orchestra, the Buddhas in the temple must be relieved from their lifelong solitude.

Past the maple trails and restful streams in the background of Mt. Naejangsan, we will enter into a historic temple adorned with beautiful murals. Baekyangsa temple's name means White Sheep temple in English.

It was first founded in 632 A.D. This is a temple that played a key role on the Joseon peninsula under Japanese Occupation, and currently it is the 18th regional headquarter for the Jogye Order. It serves an important role in educating monks in Jeolla Province.
