      After a hearty breakfast, a tour of one of the oldest capitals - Yerevan. Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, is a vibrant metropolis with a rich culture and history. Known for its pink-tinted buildings and Soviet architecture, Yerevan is picturesquely situated at the foot of Mount Ararat. The city offers a vibrant atmosphere with lively markets, cozy cafรฉs and a thriving art scene. Major sights include Republic Square and the Cascade Complex, making Yerevan a fascinating blend of history, culture and modernity.


      Visit to the Tsitsernakaberd monument and museum.


      Tsitsernakaberd was erected in 1967 and consists of a memorial stone and an eternal fire. The monument serves as a national memorial to the victims of the genocide of 1915.


      The Tsitsernakaberd Museum, which presents artifacts, photographs and historical documents relating to the genocide, is located in the immediate vicinity of the memorial.

      The journey today takes us through the Ararat Valley to the beautifully situated monastery of Chor Virap, where Gregory the Illuminator was imprisoned for 13 years until he was appointed the first Armenian Catholicos. The monasteryโ€™s architecture and its location against the majestic backdrop of the Ararat Mountains make it a popular tourist destination. Visitors can explore the cave where St. Gregory was imprisoned and experience the spiritual atmosphere of this historic place.


      Continue to the monastery of Norawank. The 13th century complex is picturesquely situated at the end of a gorge carved into the rock by the Darichay River. It consists of 3 churches, burial chapels and secular buildings surrounded by a defensive wall. The Noravank Monastery is an important example of Armenian medieval architecture and attracts visitors with its beauty and history.


      Today ends with a visit to the wine-growing region of Areni. Areni has a long tradition of viticulture and the region is known for its wine production. The surrounding vineyards benefit from a favorable climate and soil, resulting in high quality grapes. The Areni wine from this region is particularly well known, and the village is also home to the Areni-1 cave complex. The Areni-1 cave is an important archaeological discovery in the region.

      You start the excursion to the centuries-old monuments of Edzhiatsin and Zvartnots. Visit the cathedral of Echmiadzin (UNESCO World Heritage Site) - a masterpiece of early medieval Armenian architecture. On the way back to Yerevan, make a stopover in Zvartnots and visit the first Armenian round church (UNESCO World Heritage Site).

      Yerevan - Lake Sevan - Dilijan

      After breakfast, drive to Lake Sevan, the blue pearl of Armenia, which lies at an altitude of 2,000 m and is the largest freshwater lake in the entire Caucasus. Here you will visit the Sevanavank Monastery, which is located on a peninsula and was built by St. Gregory in 305 AD. Your journey then takes you to the famous spa town of Dilijan, which is also known by the locals as the "Switzerland of Armenia". Visit the old quarter and stroll along the Sharambeyan museum street. Then drive to the Goshavank Monastery, which was founded in the 12th century by the medieval Armenian scholar Mkhitar Gosh. The monastery served as a spiritual and cultural center.

      On the way back to Yerevan, you will first visit the Sanahin Monastery. Sanahin Monastery is an outstanding architectural and cultural monument. Sanahin Monastery was founded in the 10th century and is one of the oldest Armenian monasteries. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and reflects the heyday of Armenian architecture and culture. The tour continues to the Haghpat Monastery - a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Haghpat Monastery was one of the largest religious and cultural centers of education in medieval Armenia.

      After breakfast, drive to the village of Garni and visit the 1st century Hellenistic-style pagan Temple of the Sun. 35 km east of Yerevan, in a gorge, lies the Geghard Cave Monastery (UNESCO World Heritage Site from the 13th century), one of the most famous pilgrimage sites in Armenia. It was carved out of the rock face and is decorated with unique carvings and stone carvings.
