Guide

This trip is led by wilderness guides and includes a fully guided snowshoe, ski excursions plus torch-lit broomball and Luge. No cross-country skiing, snowshoeing or dog sledding experience is required! Our guides provide interpretative wilderness excursions, prepare gourmet meals and ensure you have an amazing experience.

Meals

Meals from lunch day 1 to lunch day 3 are provided. Our guides and chef prepare delicious Canadian-style cuisine. For an additional cost: we can accommodate special dietary restrictions such as gluten-free, vegan or lactose-free for $15/day/person +HST.

Accommodation

Two nights accommodation at our cozy Algonquin Log Cabin. Our Log Cabin accommodation offers a double occupancy room with two single beds in each room. Linens provided. Two shared washrooms available in the Log Cabin Single travelers are welcome at no extra charge. Private rooms for single travelers are available for an additional cost.

Transport

Optional Transportation from Toronto can be arranged via the Ontario Northland Bus Company. If you need transportation from Toronto, it is best to come the day before. We have an add-on bus package that leaves the day prior to our trip at 920am from Toronto Yorkdale, arriving in South River at 210pm where we pick you up and take you to the Algonquin Log Cabin. The option includes dinner, log cabin accommodation, and breakfasts the next day. On day 3 we transport you back to South River to catch the 440pm bus back to Toronto arriving at 915pm

      Day 1

      Rendezvous at 1230pm  Check in to the cozy Algonquin Log Cabin.  Lunch is served and meet the other guests arriving for the trip. After a tasty lunch, snowshoe to a forest lookout. Look for wildlife tracks and learn about Algonquin in winter. Return for appetizers and dinner in front of the stone fireplace. Later try your hand at torch-lit broomball on the lake.       Day 2

      Rise and enjoy a hearty, Canadian breakfast. Learn or refresh back-country ski skills before taking off across Surprise Lake and the island circuit. Stride and glide through the hemlock trails and enjoy the silence of the snow-laden forest. Return for a lunch of steaming hot soup, warm beer bread, and fresh salad. The afternoon has options: ski or snowshoe the highlands of Kettle Lake/Cardiac Hill; ski to the heated wall tent down Surprise Lake or relax and grab a book in front of the fire.       Day 3

      After a delicious breakfast, choose between snowshoeing up Moose Mountain or skiing to Loxton Lake. Enjoy lunch before heading off around 230pm.
