Accommodation

Below are the names of the hotels where we commonly have our customers stay. Note this is subject to availability. Akureyri, Preferred Accommodation: Hotel Kea or Icelandair Hotel *Mid-June through September only and only if there are 2 persons in your party Reykjavรญk, Preferred Accommodation: Apotek Hotel by Keahotels or Berjaya Reykjavik Marina Hotel or Center Hotels Laugavegur or Reykjavik Residence Hotel or Alda Hotel or Exeter Hotel Hof or Hofn, Preferred Accommodation: Adventure Hotel Hof or Lilja Guesthouse in Hof or Gerdi in Hofn *Whether we stay in Hof or Hofn depends on the day of the week. Hvolsvรถllur, Preferred Accommodation: Midgard Basecamp or Aurora Lodge Hotel or Hotel Hvolsvollur This tour includes lodging for 1 night, specifically in Hof. However, upon request, we can book accommodation for you for all nights at establishments which meet your needs. For years, we automatically included 5-star hotels in our travel packages. In the interest of our customers, we ultimately decided to reduce the price of our tours and encourage specifically those with higher expectations to simply request room upgrades. Why? Some of our customers want simple and clean but ultimately cheap rooms. Some of our customers want 4-star hotels and are willing to pay more. Others want nothing short of 5-star extravagance. There isnโ€™t a way to uphold ONE standard for hotels in our travel packages considering everyone has a different budget. What we CAN uphold are the standard and quality of our tours, all of which offer nothing short of a first-class experience. Again, upon request, we can upgrade your room type for the night included as well as book lodging for all nights on this tour. Let us know and we will provide you with pricing options.

Goรฐafoss waterfall has a height of 12 meters over a width of 30 meters. Lake Mรฝvatn was created by a large basaltic lava which erupted 2,300 years ago. The surrounding landscape is dominated by volcanic landforms, including lava pillars. Dettifoss is reputed to be the second most powerful waterfall in Europe. *Note that if there are not at least 2 persons in your party, then visiting these destinations mentioned above would be via a flight daytrip from Reykjavรญk, even mid-June through September.

From mid-June through September, as a daytrip from Akureyri, we first hike Askja Caldera and then visit a crater called Viti, the latter of which offers a pond where we go bathing. In the evening, we relocate by flight to Reykjavรญk. From October to early June, we go bathing at a โ€˜fashionableโ€™ geothermal spa called Sky Lagoon, located near to the capital. We are also provided with a tour of the capital. *Note that if there are not at least 2 persons in your party, then Askja Caldera would be replaced with a sightseeing tour in Reykjavรญk. If there are at least 2 persons in your party and if you are visiting between mid-June and September (the summertime), then there is an added expense to visit Askja Caldera instead of doing a sightseeing tour in Reykjavรญk.
