      Fes - Sahara Desert (Merzouga)

Meet your driver early in the morning for an epic seven-hour road trip into the desert. On the way, pass through the largest cedar forest in Africa, home to playful Barbary apes whose antics are sure to entertain. Cross the Middle Atlas Mountains to reach the high plains city of Midelt, where youโ€™ll break up the trip with a stop for lunch.

Continue into the High Atlas Mountains via the Ziz River Gorge, keeping an eye out for the large dunes of Erg Chebbi, which signal your arrival in Merzouga. Take some time to explore the area before meeting your camels for a trek into the heart of the dunes to your luxury camp for the night. (If camels arenโ€™t your style, you can opt for a 4WD instead.) Once you arrive, climb a nearby dune to watch the sunset as the stars begin to twinkle. Enjoy dinner, traditional music, and stargazing well into the evening, then retire to your comfortable tent to fall asleep to the sounds of the Sahara Desert.

      Overnight with dinner.

Youโ€™ll also visit the oasis town of Tinghir, where youโ€™ll take a guided walk through the palm groves and the old Jewish quarter. Next, visit the nearby Todra Gorge, where you can walk through the most impressive part of the canyon before continuing to the Dadรจs Valley and the quaint town of Boumalne Dadรจs.

After working up an appetite, enjoy lunch at a local home before setting off on the four-hour transfer to Aรฏt Bougamez.

Traveling along a less-traveled mountain road, youโ€™ll head into the High Atlas Mountains, covering nearly 50 miles (80 km) of off-roading as you make your way over the peak of Mโ€™Goun to the serene oasis town of Aรฏt Bougamez.

This morning, make your way to Ouzoud, home to one of Moroccoโ€™s highest waterfalls. These multi-step falls are over 330 feet (100 m) high and are also home to Atlas monkeys, which you may spot frolicking in the trees. Meet your guides and set out on a two-hour hike along the Ouzoud River to the top of the falls. Then, head down to the base, where you can swim, take a boat ride under the falls, or simply enjoy the view from one of the many terraces.

After lunch, continue 2.5 hours west to Marrakesh, where youโ€™ll spend the evening at your leisure. Explore this colorful oasis cityโ€™s medina, where a tangle of colorful bazaars, Moorish riads (traditional townhouses with central courtyards), and palm trees await.
