Meals

All meals are cooked over a fire. Water, fruit juice and soft drinks are included. Alcohol is excluded (can be added on surcharge). We cater for your dietary requierements/allergies. Please do not hesitate to ask.

Transport

The transfer to/from the Delta will be done in a 4WD-vehicle or a motorboat (depending on waterlevels). The transport in the Delta is a traditional African gondola and walking excursions. and ยญ4WD safari vehicle in Kalahari Desert

Accommodation

Wild Camping Our team sets up camp for you on an island in the Okavango Delta and in Deception Valley in the Kalahari Desert. This is a wildcamping tour i.e. no fences/bounderies and no permenent structures/running water/electricity. Accomodation in in dome tents with twin beds. You sleep on a camping stretcher bed with matress, duvet blanket and pillow. All tents have en-suite bushbathrooms with hot water bucket shower and long drop toilet. Towels are provided. Midrange accomodation The nights before/inbetween/after camping, you are accomodated in midrange lodges in Maun in double or twin rooms

Guide

For Kalahari: All guides are local and highly trained with Botswana Guide Associations and they have plenty of guiding experiece. For Okavango: All guides are born and raised in the Okavango Delta. They are part of the Okavango Delta Polers Trust and rotate for jobs. They are looking forward to showing you their backyard and its beauties. In camp the Kalahari Breeze Team will make sure you have an enjoyable and well-catered camping experience.

  • Day 1 Arrival In Maun

      Arrival In Maun

      You arrive in Maun, Botswana, a typical african village, the oasis in the Kalahari Desert and the touristic centre for safaris in southern Africa.  At the airport you are warmly welcomed by the Kalahari Breeze Safaris-Team.  Explore the town and take in all the impressions.

  • Day 2 In The Channels Of The Okavango Delta

      In The Channels Of The Okavango Delta

      In the early morning we pick you at your hotel or lodge or the airport in Maun. The tour starts at 07:30h with a transfer on dust roads in an opensided 4x4 safari vehicle. In the Okavango we meet up with you meet your poler, a local villager, who will take you on an unforgettable journey through the channels of the Okavango. Born and raised in the Okavango Delta, our polers and guides show you their home which they are very pationate and knowledgable about. Our experienced polers take you on a journey deep in the watersystem. Enjoy the peace of the delta in a Mokoro, the traditional onetree-canoe. For lunch you stop on an island, where you enjoy a packed lunch and then endulge in a walking safari. The Mokoro then takes you to your camp on the side of a river channel where our team already awaits you. Before your first bush dinner you can freshen up. Sometimes we even have time to include a gamedrive on the first day. After dinner, you sit around the campfire sharing the stories of the day.

  • Day 3 On The Islands Of The Okavango Delta
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      On The Islands Of The Okavango Delta

      Spend the whole day deep inside the Okavango. Explore the channels by Mokoro (traditional DugOut Canoe) and go on guided bushwalks and gamewalks with an experienced guide on the islands of the Okavango Delta.


      You are woken up with a warm โ€œDumelaโ€œ (That is the Setswana word for โ€œHelloโ€œ) and a light breakfast waiting for you. After coffee, tea and breakfast you go on your first gameviewing activity (either a nature walk or a canoe excursion). When returning to camp you have the opportunity to shower. Afterwards you will be served brunch. In the afternoon you enjoy a second gameviewing activity often a gamedrive or another Mokoro canoe tour.


      Enjoy delicious meals cooked over the bushfire by our experienced bush chef and share the experiences of the day in the evening sitting around the bushfire before falling asleep in your comfortable tent with the noises of animals and the bush around you.

  • Day 4 Leaving The Okavango Delta

      Leaving The Okavango Delta

      Enjoy a last DugOut Canoe tour and a last bush walk before heading back to town. For lunch you will rest by the riverside. Before sunset you will be back in Maun.  This is the best way of exploring the Okavango Delta!

  • Day 5 Into Central Kalahari Game Reserve
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Into Central Kalahari Game Reserve

      After breakfast we head to CKGR where the camp is set up in the Deception Valley. During and shortly after good summer rains (September to January), the flat grasslands of the reserveโ€™s northern reaches teem with wildlife, which gather at the best grazing areas. These include springbok and gemsbok, as well as wildebeest, hartebeest, eland and giraffe.


      At other times of the year, when the animals are more sparsely distributed, the experience of travelling through truly untouched wilderness, of seemingly unending dimensions, is amazing. We will spend the whole day on a transfer drive with a lunch stop on the way where we enjoy our packed meal. During the second half of the day, we will start seeing some animals in the desert. We arrive at camp in the evening, where you will be treated to a hot camp shower before proceeding to dinner around a campfire.

  • Day 6 In The Pans Of Deception Valley
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      In The Pans Of Deception Valley

      Rise and shine and say hello to a fresh morning over coffee/tea and rusks for a 0630hrs morning game drive to Sunday Pan waterhole, and have a coffee break at Passarge Valley. Under the dense umbrella thorn Acacia tortillis thickets cheetah and lion oftn rest up in the mid-day heat and if we are lucky we get to see them.

      CKGR boasts an amazing variety of birds, believe: Secretary bird, Kori Bustard and Ostrich are the most prominent of the species to be spotted, with good chances of seeing Lapped-faced Vulture and White-backed Vulture too.

      We will continue to explore this amazing landscape in search of its beauties. Our final leg of the morning drive will take us back through Leopard Pan to arrive at camp for lunch and enjoy an afternoon siesta.

      After a well deserved rest we will depart for an evening game drive to Deception Pan where we will enjoy a great sunset. Once the sun goes down we will head back to camp.

  • Day 7 Gamedrives In The Kalahari
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Gamedrives In The Kalahari

      After another early morning wake up and a light breakfast we will head out for a game drive at the crack of dawn with the hopes of spotting cheetah, a resident pride of lion and several leopard whose territories include parts of the pan.


      We will head back to camp around mid morning to enjoy warm showers before a scrumptious breakfast. During hours of the hot midday sun, we take a siesta before heading on our final Kalahari afternoon gamedrive.

  • Day 8 Kalahari To Maun
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Kalahari To Maun

      Rise and shine and say hello to a fresh early morning over coffee/tea and light breakfast! We will head out for a game drive at the crack of dawn with the hopes of spotting cheetah, a resident pride of lion or several leopards whose territories include parts of the pan.


      We maximise on the last gamedrive in the Kalahari on the way back to civilisation and have a last picnic lunch in the bush before heading back to Maun.


      The reserve might have little farewell surprises as we drive back โ€œhomeโ€ so keep those cameras ready to capture the last memories of the Kalahari. We will enjoy the drive as we continue our learning about this reserve and its beauties, mostly very unique.


      We anticipate to arrive in Maun mid afternoon, depending on what we spot along the way.

  • Day 9 Departure Or Continue To Moremi, Chobe Or Victoria Falls

      After breakfast we transfer you to the airport in Maun for your departure flight back home.

      OR book another tour with us and continue your journey e.g. via Moremi, Khwai and  Savuti or Makgadikgadi to  Chobe and Victoria Falls.
