Between 1801 and 1917, then part of the Russian Empire, Tbilisi was the seat of the Imperial Viceroy, governing both Southern and Northern Caucasus.

The Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi is the main cathedral of the Georgian Orthodox Church located in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. Constructed between 1995 and 2004, it is the third-tallest Eastern Orthodox cathedral in the world and one of the largest religious buildings in the world by total area. Sameba is a synthesis of traditional styles dominating the Georgian church architecture at various stages in history and has some Byzantine undertones.

Located on a steep hill, Signagi overlooks the vast Alazani Valley, with the Caucasus Mountains visible at a distance.

The Monastery of St. Nino at Bodbe is a Georgian Orthodox monastic complex and the seat of the Bishops of Bodbe located 2 km from the town of Sighnaghi, Kakheti, Georgia. Originally built in the 9th century, it has been significantly remodeled, especially in the 17th century. The monastery now functions as a nunnery and is one of the major pilgrimage sites in Georgia, due to its association with St. Nino, the 4th-century female evangelist of Georgians, whose relics are shrined there.

Borjomi (Georgian: แƒ‘แƒแƒ แƒฏแƒแƒ›แƒ˜) is a resort town in south-central Georgia, 160 km from Tbilisi, with a population of 10,546.[1] It is one of the districts of the Samtskhe-Javakheti region and is situated in the northwestern part of the region in the picturesque Borjomi Gorge on the eastern edge of the Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park. The town is noted for its mineral water industry (which is the number one export of Georgia), the Romanov summer palace in Likani, and the World Wide Fund for Nature-site Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park. Borjomi mineral water is particularly well known in those countries which were part of the former Soviet Union; the bottling of mineral water is a major source of income for the area. Because of the supposed curative powers of the area's mineral springs, it is a frequent destination for people with health problems. Borjomi is also home to the most extensive ecologically-themed amusement park in the Caucasus.

The Mghvimevi monastery (Georgian: แƒ›แƒฆแƒ•แƒ˜แƒ›แƒ”แƒ•แƒ˜แƒก แƒ›แƒแƒœแƒแƒกแƒขแƒ”แƒ แƒ˜, translit.: mghvimevis monast'eri) is a Georgian Orthodox monastery in the western Georgian region of Imereti, near the town of Chiatura, partly carved into rock. Its main feature is a 13th-century two-nave basilica, dedicated to the Nativity of the Mother of God. The complex also includes a small hall church, bell-tower, and a circuit wall. The monastery is a functioning nunnery. It is rich in ornamental architectural sculpture which decorate the exterior of the churches. The Mghvimevi complex is inscribed on the list of Georgia's Immovable Cultural Monuments of National Significance.

It is approximately 40 metres (130 ft) high, and overlooks the small river valley of Katskhura, a right affluent of the Q'virila.

Sataplia Strict Nature Reserve (Georgian: แƒกแƒแƒ—แƒแƒคแƒšแƒ˜แƒ แƒกแƒแƒฎแƒ”แƒšแƒ›แƒฌแƒ˜แƒคแƒ แƒœแƒแƒ™แƒ แƒซแƒแƒšแƒ˜ ) is located 10 km from town of Kutaisi in Imereti region of Georgia.[1] Visitors center is located in village lower Alvani, Akhmeta Municipality at the slopes of extinct volcano โ€” Mount Sataplia. The name Sataplia can be freely translated as a "honey place" (In Georgian language แƒ—แƒแƒคแƒšแƒ˜, tapli means honey. ) and in fact bees used to live in small holes and caves and honey was harvested by the local population.

From October 2012 to December 2018, Kutaisi briefly was the seat of the Parliament of Georgia as an effort to decentralise the Georgian government.
