Grown out of long-term observation and meditation over art and life, Spirited Garden has been called one of the most beautiful garden in the world, attracting world celebrities and leaders. Also referred as โ€˜Sunrise Peakโ€™, this archetypal tuff-cone structure rose from the shallow sea by hydro-volcanic eruptions 5,000 years ago. Climbing to the top, you can find a grass-filled crater surrounded by numerous sharp rocks. This colossal footprint left by nature is a UNESCO World Heritage and also a habitat for 200 types of trees and wild animals.

Japanese empire dig holes on the walls of this lava structure, using them to hide military camps. Now they are used by Haenyeos as their diving platforms. Haenyeos are female divers who dive into the ocean water to gather various shellfish, seaweed, etc, without using any underwater diving equipment. Their unique way of life and culture were inscribed as UNESCO Intangible Heritage of the World. You can watch their performance nearby.

Jeongbang Waterfall is a magical waterfall that directly descends into the ocean. Such feature cannot be found anywhere else in Asia. Next to the waterfall is an inscription on stone referring to a passage of a royal servant from Chinese Qin Dynasty, ordered by the emperor to find an elixir for permanent life.

Haedong Yonggungsa Temple is situated on the coast of north-eastern Busan. While most temples in Korea are located in the mountains, this temple has found its charming location along the shore line. The main sanctuary of the temple was reconstructed in 1970 with careful attention paid to the colors that were traditionally used in such structures.

On the right-hand side, inside the a cave, is a uniquely designed Buddhist sanctum. Other special sites at the temple are four lion statues, the 108 stairs, and stone lanterns lining the rocky landscape. Midway down the 108 steps one can pause and enjoy the calming sounds of the waves, and view the majestic sunrise.

Seokguram, located in Tohamsan Mountain, is the representative stone temple of Korea. Stop At: Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond, 102 Wonhwa-ro, Inwang-dong, Gyeongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do, South Korea
Gyeongju Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond were the secondary palace site which was used for the palace of the Crown Prince along with other subsidiary buildings. It was also a banquet site for important national event and important visitors.

After the fall of Silla, the site was abandoned and forgotten. The pond was referred to as "Anapji" by the later kingdoms, meaning a pond where the glory of the past is nowhere to be seen but wild geese and ducklings are found. Only in the 1980's, a pottery piece found in excavation revealed the original name of the place, "Wolji"(a pond that reflects the moon).

Day 5: Seoulย โ€“ Panmunjeom (Joint Security Area (Tue-Fri)) and The Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) Tours

Camp Bonifas is a United Nations Command military post in the South Korean side of DMZ. We will first go through passport examination. There will be slideshow and briefing at its Joint Security Area afterwards.

The Joint Security Area (JSA), also known as the Panmunjom truce area, remains the most iconic image of the DMZ. Its hawk-eyed guards and barbed wire fences make us realize that we just arrived at one end of a world.

House of Peace is a venue for peace talks between North and South Korea. The building is located in the Joint Security Area on the south side of the Military Demarcation Line bisecting the area. Many inter-Korean summits too place in Freedom House, the conference room of the pavilion.

Stop At: Imjingak Pyeonghoa-Nuri Park, 481-1 Samok-ri, Munsan-eup, Paju, Gyeonggi-do South Korea
Imjingak park was built to console those from both sides of Koreas who can no longer return to their hometowns, friends, and families because of the division of Korea. It contains many statues and monuments regarding the Korean War. The โ€œFreedom Bridge,โ€ where repatriated POWs and soldiers returning from the North is seen lying across the Imjin river.

Stop At: Tong-il Daegyo Bridge, Majeong-ri, Munsan-eup, Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea
Unification bridge is most notably remembered by a travelling of 1001 cows led by Chung-Ju-Yung, the founder of Hyundai Industry. At the historic moment of first South-North summit taking place, Chung crossed the border with the cattle in an wishful act to stabilize the relation between two Koreas. During his young days, Chung had stolen a cow from his parents in North Korea to pay for his move to the city.

DMZ Theater and Exhibition Hall is a place where the visitors can watch a video clip providing detailed information on the 4 secret tunnels and the history of Korean war. The exhibition displays information on various incidents that took place in DMZ, even after the armistice.

Stop At: The Third Tunnel, Nosang-ri, Jangdan-myeon, Paju, Gyeonggi-do 10800 South Korea
The Third Infiltration Tunnel is one of four known tunnels under the border between North and South Korea. Discovered in 1978, the tunnel is 1mile long. It penetrates 435 meters south from the military demarcation line, and can coordinate 30,000 men in a single hour. Convincingly built to perform a rapid raid action to the South, North Korea was blamed for threatening the 1953 Korean Armistice Agreement by United Nations upon its discovery.

This observatory provides vernaculars that the visitors can use to look at the North Korean propaganda village. Industrial district of Kaesong City, being the third largest city in the North, also comes into view. This place is the closest point to the North that you can approach from South Korea.

Dorasan Station is a railway station that used to connect North and South Korea. Trains travelled to both sides with goods and materials until 2008. Although this large station is now left out of operation, it remains symbolic of the hope for eventual Korean Unification.

Day 6: Seoulย Highlight Tour with Drinking Tea at traditional Korean Tea House at Insadong

Stop At: Gyeongbokgung Palace, 161 Sajik-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul South Korea

We will first visit a Hanbok Rental shop to try the Korean traditional dress(Optional). You can stroll inside Gyeongbukgung palace wearing Hanbok. Wearing the dress will leave you both a special memory and dreamy pictures.

Situated at the top of Gwanghwamun Square, the presence of Gyeongbukgung palace gleams brightly in the central spine of the nation. As the first and largest palace built by Joseon Dynasty in 1395, the grand villa consisted of 330 buildings and had up to 3,000 staffs.

Before entering to explore the palace, we will also watch the changing ceremony of royal guards. This enactment is an excellent opportunity to experience a rare tradition, performed exactly as it used to be held. Guards appear wearing royal uniforms, carrying traditional weapons and playing traditional instruments.

Created by the first city-planner of Korea, these intimate structures will delight you as you discover your way around the hillside village.

Insa-dong, located in the heart of the city, is an important place where old but precious and traditional goods are on display. There is one main road in Insa-dong with alleys on each side. Within these alleys are galleries, traditional restaurants, teahouses, and cafes.

Gwangjang Market was the first permanent market in Korea and continues to thrive as a popular tourist destination today, popularized by a recent Netflix show. The second floor of the market is filled with silk, satin, and linen bed-sheet stores, which are the largest and most famous in Seoul.

The highlight of this market is, however, discovering the animated street food stalls! We will go sampling some of the best Korean street foods here. The specialties in this market are octopus tartar and mung-bean pancakes. You will also be introduced to eccentric Korean foods such as steamed pork feet, blood sausage, and spicy chicken feet.

Take in the breathtaking 360-degree view of the Seoul Metropolis! The top of the tower is at almost 480m above sea level, including Namsan Mountain(243m) and the towerโ€™s own height(236.7m).

The tower was first established as a broadcast tower to send out TV and radio signals in 1969. As of now, it has become one of the representative landmarks and multi-cultural venues in Seoul. At the tower, you can check out other highlights including the famous 'Locks of Love' and ancient beacon mounds.

Myeong-dong is one of the primary shopping districts in Seoul. Many brand name shops, cosmetic shops, and department stores line the streets and alleys. The streets are filled with abundance of street food vendors. Enjoy your evening in this town, which seems to have forgotten the night.
