6 Day Makgadikgadi Mtb Ride And Delta Boat Safari

Day  1:  Sunset  Ride 

Depart  Maun  at  6:00am  and  drive  to  Makgadikgadi  Pans  for  a  3  hour  drive a and do game drive after which  we  will  have  lunch  and  relax  for  a  siesta  moment.  At  late  noon,  we  will  proceed  to  start  our  30km ride  in  the  pans.  An  amazing  sunset  awaits  to  usher  you  to  our  camp.  As  you  learn  about  the  history  of  this  area,  you  will  realize  that  you  are  enjoying  your  evening  on  the  floor  of  an  ancient  sea,  a  truly  rare  opportunity. 

Day  2:  Camp  to  Kubu  Island

Start  your  ride  in  the  morning  from  camp  to  Kubu  Island  for  40km.  The  pans  have  one  of  the  best  unobstructed  sunrise  views  on  land.  The  island  is  a  national  monument,  and  is  a  sacred  site  by  the  indigenous  people  of  the  area.  Archaeological  recovery  in  the  Makgadikgadi  has  revealed  the  presence  of  prehistoric  humans  through  abundant  finds  of  stone  tools.   

Day  3:  Game  Drive  and  Night  Ride 

Start  game  drive  in  the  morning  to  Makgadikgadi  Pans  Game  Reserve,  with  an  area  of  3900  sq  kms. Resident  species  include  gemsbok,  eland  and  red  hartebeest,  kudu,  bushbuck,  duiker,  giraffe,  springbok,  steenbok  and  even  elephant,  with  all  the  accompanying  predators,  as  well  as  the  rare  brown  hyena. 

We  will  rest  in  the  afternoon  before  heading  out  for  a  30km  ride  just  before  sunset.  We  will  stop  along  the  way  to  enjoy  sunset  viewing  before  proceeding  to  ride  into  the  night  and  head  back  to  camp  by  9pm.

Day  4:  Dryland  to  Wetlands: Delta  Boat  Safari 

We  will  depart  from  camp  early  and  drive  to  Maun  to  arrive   by  noon  where  we  will  board  our  swamp  cruiser  boat  for  Okavango  Delta.  This  is  a  UNESCO  World  heritage  site  with elephants,  zebra,  buffalo,  kudu,  hippos  and  giraffe.  This  will  surely  be  a  treat  for  bird  lovers  also.  

Day  5:  Mokoro  Experience 

We  will  head  out  by  boat  for  day  long  mokoro  ride  and  cultural  expedition. This  is  where  you  will  get  into  such  a  relaxed  mode.  Some  guests  have  meditated  along  the  cruise,  some  have  fallen  asleep,  while  some  have  been  perplexed  about  the  entire  experience.  Your  story  is  yet  to  be  told... 

Day  6:  Nature  Walk  &  Return  Trip 

You  will  be woken  up  at  5:30am  for an early  morning walk  and  connect  with  nature  as  the  day  begins.  It  is  a  short  walk  and  while  safety  is  of  paramount  importance,  you  are  not  a  threat  to  the  animals  and  as  long  as  we  respect  their  spaces  they  will  welcome  us  to  their  home.
