It traces its origin in the twelfth century but was rebuilt with new town walls in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. It comprises of a conglomeration of mosques; a magnificent palace and houses all nestled in 45 acres of primeval forest.

You will then visit the Portuguese Chapel, Vasco da Gama pillar and the Malindi Museum where you will get to see and learn about the history of the town, the people and their culture. You will have your lunch in Malindi before visiting the Hellโ€™s Kitchen Canyon. This is about 1hr 15minutes drive. The locals have named it โ€˜Nyariโ€™ which is Kigiriama for a depression. The depression is ever expanding because of erosion. It was once a great sandstone ridge scrapped by wind, torrents and floods into a series of jagged crimson gorges. The craggy gullies and valleys smoulder with sun producing a flaming mirage. It reveals a light mixture of pink, yellow, white and dominant crimson. It is a site to behold.
