For the first four hours, the road is sealed up until Dhading Bensi, the district headquarters of Dhading (1050m). After Dhading the road to Arughat worsens and is fairly rough. We then continue to Nauli Khola (river) over a suspension bridge and then follow the trail along the banks of the Budi Gandaki River before reaching Machha Khola (900m). Many trekkers were stranded here after the earthquake in 2015 and had to be rescued. Tonight we will stay in a guesthouse at Machha Khola.

The trail zigzags across the river with several suspension bridges to cross before we reach the entrance gate to Manaslu Conservation Area and Jagat (1410m) - with its distinctive flagstone village square. We then re-cross the river before arriving at Namrung (2660m), which was a former customs post in the days when this was the salt route from Tibet. • Day 10 Day 10: Acclimatization Day At Samagaun.
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 10: Acclimatization Day At Samagaun.

At higher altitudes, it is crucial to get acclimatized for at least one day before climbing to higher altitudes. Health specialists suggest that you stay active. One way that can stay active is to explore the Gompa at Pugyen (4070m), a one day trek that leaves the trail between Syaula and Sama. It is possible for you to continue on up this valley to the craggy rocks and terrain of the Pugin glacier. Another option is a trek to the lake at Birendra Tal (3450m) and then a difficult ascent to Manaslu Base Camp (4900m). It is said that the cave north of Birendra Tal is Milarepaโ€™s Cave (famous Buddha saint) where he meditated while on a retreat.

  • Day 11 Day 11: Samagaun To Samdo (3,785M) Duration 3-4 Hours.

The valley then widens before reaching Kermo Khadka and then continues to the white Kani Gateway signifying the entrance to Samdo (3860m). We can also choose to trek to the peak above the village for incredible views of Mount Manaslu. If there is a need to further acclimatize, there is also a 6 to 7-hour trek climbing 640 meters to the moraine of the Fukang Glacier where you will be in awe of the broad views towards several passes used by locals to cross into Tibet.

We head down across the fields before starting our climb towards the Larkya-La Pass, a trail that offers astounding views of Manaslu and the Syacha Glacier. You may see Himalayan blue sheep on your trek to Dharamsala (4480m). This is as high as we ascend today without risking altitude sickness. This sector of the trek is often subject to snowfall between mid - December to mid -March when snow frequently blocks access through the Larkya-La Pass. Samdo Lodge is typically closed. After arriving at the crest of the pass we are blessed with incredible panoramic views of various mountain ranges. The descent from the pass is also physically challenging.
