      Welcome to Quito, the capital of Ecuador! Arrive at the Mariscal Sucre International Airport (UIO), where your driver will meet you to transfer to your accommodation in the city center, a one-hour trip.


      The entire city of Quito is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, standing at an altitude of 9,350ft (2,850m). It welcomes visitors with its picturesque plazas situated between mountain peaks. The city has an abundance of market stands, shamanistic healers, and fourth-generation hat makers, as well as a vibrant and sophisticated culinary and nightlife scene.

      Start in Independence Square to see La Iglesia de la Compaรฑรญa de Jesรบs, or La Compaรฑรญaโ€”a 17th-century volcanic-rock-, cedar-, and gilt-decorated-church.


      Next, visit La Basรญlica y Convento de San Francisco, or "el San Francisco," considered Ecuadorโ€™s most important church for its scale and history. Stroll on La Ronda, a pre-Columbian walking trail that is now brimming with cafรฉs, live music, and boutiques.


      Then your driver guide will take you by car to the north of the city, see a monument commemorating the discovery of the point where the Northern and Southern Hemispheres divide in the Ciudad Mitad del Mundo (Middle of the World City). Spend some time visiting a planetarium, scale model of Quito, several museums, an old train station, and a small chapel.

  • Day 3 Quito - Coca - Napo Cultural Center

      Arriving at Napo Cultural Center, you will have the outstanding chance to step onto the aboriginal territory of the kichwa Aรฑangu community, with its members welcoming you with a traditional and refreshing ice-cold โ€œwayusa."

       

      The local hotel manager will give instructions and then take you to your comfortable room with views of the rainforest. Your first activity in the afternoon will be a hike along the โ€œPlayasโ€ trail to experience amazon wildlife for the first time in the river islands and shores amidst one of the most biologically diverse places on Earth.

       

      Kayaking is also available as an optional activity for around 45 min where you will enjoy an overwhelming and colorful sunset in the vastness of Napo River. Then head back to your cabin, rest a bit, and be prepared for a well-deserved dinner. After dinner, you will fall asleep to the relaxing sounds of the Amazon.

  • Day 4 Visit The Parrot Clay Lick & Kichwa Community, Hike Through The Rainforest

      Visit The Parrot Clay Lick & Kichwa Community, Hike Through The Rainforest

      Get up early and go on your first excursion for today: the parrot clay lick, located approximately one hour from the lodge. Here, youโ€™ll have the chance to see a total of 11 species of parrots, parakeets, and macaws. Afterward, hike along a forest trail to visit the Kichwa community of Aรฑangu, where you will share time and daily activities with a local family. Return to the creek and hike through a "Terra Firme" forest (an Amazon forest which lies above flood level) for about 30 minutes, until you arrive at the second parrot clay lick for some more birdwatching.


      Share your lunch at Napo Cultural Center with members of the Kichwa community. In the afternoon, paddle back to Napo Wildlife Center. Enjoy some free time, before a delicious dinner is served in the evening.

      After an early breakfast, leave the lodge to experience an amazing view of the rainforest from a 118-foot (36 m) high canopy towerโ€”a great way to see life above the ground. The tower is located about 30 minutes from the lodge, deep within the Terra Firme forest. As you ascend the 12-floor tall tower, youโ€™ll pass through different levels of the forest. Flocks of colorful tanagers pass right through the trees, blue-and-yellow macaws fly past, and in nearby trees, spider monkeys search for fruit. The life of the forest canopy will open up before your eyes!


      Lunch is served at the lodge. In the afternoon, hike along another Terra Firme forest trail to discover more flora and fauna. You may find lizards, colorful manakins, or the unique and endemic golden-mantled tamarin monkey. After the hike, explore the nearby lake and creeks by dugout canoe. Thereโ€™s a high chance you may run into a giant otter family on the way.

      This morning, you will participate in a traditional Kichwa ritual! You will wake up around 04:30 am and drink the traditional energy drink "Wayusa." You can forward to listening to songs in the local language, meditating, and interpreting dreams. It will be a unique "once in a lifetime" experience, where you will experience the harmony, peace, and joy that the indigenous people of South America know so well.


      Wayusa is a traditional, energizing herbal tea prepared from the leaves of a sacred tree in the equatorial rain forests of the Ecuadorian Amazon jungle by indigenous people. Each family has their tree and use it as a part of their everyday lives, and has been a part of the Amazonian culture for more than 2000 years.


      After breakfast, a motorized canoe will bring you back to El Coca, originally named Puerto Francisco de Orellana,  from where you will take the plane back to Quito.

      After arriving at Baltra Airport, a local guide will pick you up. On the way to Puerto Ayora, stop off at a local farm in the highlands, where there are dozens of giant tortoises. Wander around on your own to appreciate these majestic creatures. Then, enjoy lunch before continuing to your destination. 


      In the afternoon, visit the Charles Darwin Research Station. Witness firsthand the work of international scientists who come to the Galรกpagos to carry out environmental projects. Head to the nearby Fausto Llerena Breeding Center, where giant Galรกpagos tortoises breed and are cared for. This is the best place on the islands to see different tortoise species and learn about each one.

      Once you reach the bay, hop on a kayak and set out to explore the crystal-clear waters that surround it. The mangroves, cacti forests, and salt lagoons that populate the area offer a unique opportunity to observe the beauty of nature up close.

      As the sun reaches its peak and the noon meal (not included) has been enjoyed to satisfaction, you will have the pleasure of embarking on a small boat that will take you to some of the most mesmerizing spots within the bay of Santa Cruz. Your first stop will be the enchanting islet of La Loberรญa, named after its magnificent colony of sea lions. With snorkeling gear on, you can witness the awe-inspiring display of tropical fish and sea lions performing their underwater ballet, weaving in and around the fascinating underwater formations.


      Afterward, you will be taken to the Shark Channel, where you may catch sight of the harmless white-tip sharks and the beautiful blue-footed boobies, which will make for a picture-perfect moment. As you continue on your journey, youโ€™ll come across the Canal del Amor, a place where you can observe sea turtles and a diverse range of tropical fish, beckoning you to immerse yourself in their world.


      Further along the way, youโ€™ll enjoy a leisurely 10-minute walk, during which you will see marine iguanas in their natural habitat. Be sure to capture this unforgettable moment through the lens of your camera.

      Start your day early as you meet your expert guide in the morning for an exhilarating ride to Puerto Ayoraโ€™s dock. Your excitement will only heighten as you board a speedboat that will take you to the picturesque Isabela Island.


      From Puerto Villamil on a short walk from Puerto Villamil on Isabela Island will bring you to the Tortoise Breeding Center, in fact the short trail from town is lovely in itself as you follow a boardwalk that takes you across the wetlands and Opuntia cactus fields. 


      In this breeding center, populations from Sierra Negra Volcano, Cerro Azul, Cazuela, Cinco Cerros, Roca Union, San Pedro, Tables and Cerro Paloma have been bred and raised. In total there are 330 juvenile and adult tortoises and carries 5 different subspecies of Galรกpagos Giant Tortoise that are all native to Isabela, but currently threatened by habitat damage caused by introduced animals and volcanic eruptions.  


      Here, the Giant Tortoise eggs are carefully incubated in a special hatchery, whilst the adults are cared for in large supervised corrals.


      Next, you will visit the "Humedales", the Wetlands of the island, which you can reach after 30 minutes of walking. This is an important habitat, and is one of the only places where you can see all 4 of the native Galรกpagos Mangrove species which are hugely important, not only for the wildlife they contain, but also for their help in preserving the coastline and resisting the eroding action of waves.


      This area is characterized by sandy beaches, rocky shores, and mangroves. The area has a number of trails where you can see all four species of mangroves found in Galapagos and also many migratory birds.

      This perfect snorkeling spot is located in the Cabo Rosa lava tunnels, locally known as "Los Tuneles." To reach this magnificent destination, you will board a speedboat at the dock in Puerto Villamil, embarking on an approximate one-hour journey.


      As you approach the lava flows, you will notice unique geological formations that have been created by the series of lava flows, including arcs and tunnels underneath and above the water. These formations make Los Tuneles an exceptional place to swim around.


      Once you reach the shallow waters, youโ€™ll be in for a treat. You can expect to encounter a diverse range of marine life in the shallow waters. Keep your eyes peeled for tropical fish, rays, turtles, sea horses, and white-tipped reef sharks. And if youโ€™re lucky, you might even swim alongside majestic sea turtles. Keep your eyes peeled for penguins sitting on the rocks and prepare yourself for the possibility of swimming with majestic sea turtles.

      The majestic Sierra Negra Volcano will occupy todayโ€™s agenda.


      Our adventure starts with a journey from Puerto Villamil to the beginning of the trail. Once there, we will prepare our backpacks and start our walk through the relatively young woods, which suffer from constant geological changes.


      Youโ€™ll do a six-hour roundtrip hike to its summit, from where youโ€™ll get to see the second-largest volcanic crater in the world. Walk around spectacular lava landscapes, taking in the northern volcanoes in Isabela and Fernandina Islands. 

      During your climb, make sure to be on the lookout for the unique vegetation that inhabits the area. 


      Your finishing point is the edge of the Sierra Negra Volcanoโ€™s crater, this volcano is still active. Once at the edge of the crater, you will have spectacular views of the crater and the volcanoes that surround it. The circumference of the crater is huge, with a diameter of almost 10 km along with its widest point.


      Youโ€™ll have some free time after you get back to Isabela Island. If you still have energy, you can head to a beach or snorkel at Concha Perla.
