      Today early in the morning, we drove about 15 minutes to Tribhuwan Airport International. After 30 minutes flight to Lukla (2804 meters), we begin our trek to Phakding (2610 meters).

  • Day 2 Day 2: Trek To Namche Bazar (3535M)

      Trek to Namche Bazar (3535 meters), a 6-hour walk through Dudhkoshi River.

      Day 3: Excursion In Namche Bazar

      This is a day for acclimatization. First, we walk around the valley to adjust to thin air. Namche Bazar is known as the gateway to the Everest. We will also take you to the Sherpa Museum on the same day. There you can see the traditional custom of the Sherpa people. Besides, a fine view of Everest and other mountains can be overviewed from this place.

      Tengboche lies on a ridge at an altitude of 3,867 meters [12,700 feet]. From Tengboche, there are spectacular views of some of the worldโ€™s highest mountains, including Ama Dablam [6,812 meters], Nuptse [7,855 meters], Lhotse [8,516 meters], Thamserku [6,623 meters] and Kantega [6,779 meters]. The ice walls of these mountains dominate the landscape, and avalanches can frequently be heard rumbling high up the glaciers.

      Day 5: In Tengboche - 1St Day Of Mani Rimdu Festival

      The 1st day of the Mani Rimdu Festival began with the Sand Mandala construction, and Wong coloured it. Some sharp symbolic defensive weapons, and divinities, are kept surrounding the newly built Mandala.

      Day 6: In Tengboche - 2Nd Day Of Mani Rimdu Festival

      On the 2nd day of the festival, Triumph over the symbolic demons is shown in the dance. 

      As the theme of the dance, positive energies fight with the demons through the dances. The dances carry Buddhist teaching on many levels, from the simplest to the most metaphysical state. During the dance, the monks are believed to enter a trance and become godlike beings. The dances are only performed during Mani Rimdu because they are considered very sacred and hence cannot be performed for common entertainment purposes.       Day 7: In Tengboche - 3Rd Day Of Mani Rimdu Festival

      The last day of the festival is the Fire Puja. The Fire Puja is done in the yard the day after the dances. The Fire Puja is a gift to Agni (the god of fire) and the Gods of the Mandala to dispel all harm in the world. The harm is envisioned as dissolving into the grain and butter being burned. Afterwards, the sand Mandala in the temple is dismantled to pieces, and the sand is given as an offering to the Snake Gods (Nagas). With this, the exciting festival of Mani Rimdu comes to an end.   • Day 8 Day 8: Return Trek To Manjo Village

      Day 8: Return Trek To Manjo Village

      Tengboche monastery is the final destination of the trek. Thus, we return our trek to Manjo following the same trail via Namche Bazar (7 hours of walking).
