Day 1: Travel to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

Stop At: Uganda Equator, Masaka Road, Kayabwe Uganda
Your Bwindi โ€“ Kibale Uganda gorilla tours safari will start with an English-speaking driver-guide picking you from a suitable location within Kampala. You will then embark on your gorilla trekking excursion โ€“ your memorable safari expedition spent in the primitive African wild. Your experienced guide will take the Kampala โ€“ Ntungamo โ€“ Rukungiri โ€“ kihihi โ€“ Buhoma route. This is regarded as the quickest and most direct route to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.

You will make a brief stop at the equator in Kayabwe, about 72 km from Kampala city. While at the equator, you will have a chance to see the imaginary line that divides the world into two equal halves. You can choose to stand at this point with one of your feet in the northern hemisphere and the other foot in the southern hemisphere and take photos. A Uganda gorilla tours excursion is incomplete without visiting the equator.

You will then arrive at Buhoma, one of the four main gorilla trekking regions in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, in the early evening. You can embark on a nature walk before retiring to your choice accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi & Batwa cultural trail

Stop At: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Western Region
The second day of your Uganda gorilla tours safari starts with an early breakfast before you head out to the park headquarters at around 7:00 am. You will be briefed about the โ€˜dosโ€™ and โ€˜donโ€™tsโ€™ while on a gorilla trekking excursion. You will then hit the trail-head with a team of professional guides and trackers. A typical gorilla trekking excursion lasts between 2 โ€“ 8 hours. Hiking through the beaten trails in search of the potent giants is exerting but greatly rewarding. The hours you spend searching through the vast forest are not boring; you get to encounter a variety of mammal, primate and bird species as well as noteworthy floral and plant life.

You can have your packed lunch before or after your gorilla trekking expedition. As the afternoon wanes, you will embark on the โ€˜Batwa experienceโ€™. Encountering the pygmy Batwa is a major highlight in a Uganda gorilla tours safari. The expedition includes visiting the community where the Batwa โ€“ native forest dwellers live. You will return to your choice lodge in the late evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale National Park โ€“ explore the Ndali-kasenda crater lakes region

Stop At: Kibale National Park, Kibale National Park, Western Region
On the third day of your Uganda gorilla tours safari, you will have breakfast and transfer to Kibale National Park at around 8:00 am. Once you arrive at the park, you will checking in at your choice lodging, have lunch and unwind before heading out to Ndali โ€“ Kasenda crater lakes region. The region is a mass of lakes formed from ancient volcanic activity dating back to over 1000 years.

The region offers you a scenic view of the rolling hills, the rugged landscape and thick greenery covering the surrounding areas. It is not advisable to swim in the lakes however, because they have green toxic water and they give off a sulphuric smell. After exploring the lakes, you will retire to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale โ€“ guided nature walk in Bigodi wetland sanctuary

Stop At: Kibale National Park, Kibale National Park, Western Region
After having breakfast, you will prepare to embark on a chimp trekking excursion, an activity to supplement your Uganda gorilla tours safari experience. Kibale National Park has the highest concentration of chimp population in Uganda and is a home to 13 other primate species. You will report at Kanyanchu Visitor Center for a briefing from the park authorities after which you will be allocated a chimp community to track. Chimpanzees live in large communities of about 100 individuals, and a typical tracking experience lasts between 2 โ€“ 6 hours.

After your chimpanzee tracking experience, you will have lunch and head out for a guided nature walk in Bigodi wetland sanctuary. The swamp is a habitat to over 200 bird species, and a variety of primate and mammal species including; the various kinds of monkeys, otters, bush pigs, bush bucks, sitatungas, and mongooses. You will retire to your lodge in the late evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Return to Kampala โ€“ end of safari

Stop At: Kampala, Kampala, Central Region
On the last day of your Uganda gorilla tours safari, you have breakfast and embark on your journey back to Kampala. You will reach the country's Capital in the late evening.

Your driver-guide will drop you at your desired location. This will mark the end of your Bwindi โ€“ Kibale Uganda gorilla tours safari experience.
