This tour includes:

Flights

All domestic flights (From Kathmandu to Lukla and Lukla to Kathmandu) including airport departure tax and transfers.

Please be advised that if you need to return early from the trek due to reasons such as sickness, unfavorable weather conditions, personal issues, itinerary modifications, or any other unforeseen circumstances, the following conditions apply: - Any payments made for flights, hotel accommodations, mountain room bookings, meals, and related expenses are nonrefundable. - You will be required to cover the costs of hotel stays, meals, and other expenses in Kathmandu independently. Additionally, please note that during the months of March to May and September to November, all flights will depart from Ramechhap.       Welcome to Kathmandu, a city full of pulsating markets, busy streets, colorful temples and grand pagodas. Our guide will meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel in Thamel. The rest of the day you will have an opportunity to familiarize yourself with the shopping areas closest to your hotel and catch up on shopping for trekking equipment. In the evening our tour guide will give you a brief introduction and provide valuable information about the trek.

      This morning we will head to the domestic terminal of Kathmandu airport for your 35-minute flight to Lukla.  The trek begins and the trail will pass a Kani (ceremonial gatehouse) before it descends and then heads up above Kyangma Village - with its large Gompa (monastery). Next, we head to Cheplung Village and pass through a forest close to the Dudh Koshi River. After crossing the suspension bridge we cross the ridge to Ghat Village passing Mani walls, chortens and Tibetan Buddhist prayer wheels. Not far from Ghat we arrive at Phakding Village.

      The trail today crosses a number of suspension bridges spanning the Dudh Kosi River before passing through Tok-Tok, Benkar, and Monjo and then we arrive at the Sagarmatha National Park entrance gate where you will be asked to buy a trekking permit. We follow the river bed for a few hours and cross the Hillary suspension bridge and then have a steep uphill climb to Namche Bazaar. Namche Bazaar has a good variety of restaurants, an internet cafรฉ, pubs, post office, ATM and banks.

      Health specialists strongly recommend we spend the day being active in order to better acclimatize. We can take a short hike up to Everest View Resort, Thame, visit Khunde or wander around Namche Bazaar. Namche Bazaar is the main commercial center of the Everest (Khumbu) region and has government offices and a vibrant market each Friday evening and Saturday morning. We will also visit the Tourist Visitor Center located very close to the headquarters of the Sagarmatha National Park where we can look over a collection of relics linked to the first mountaineers to climb Everest, Sherpa cultural artifacts and discover the diverse plant and animal life of the Everest region.

      The day begins with a steep ascent up from the valley and heads through rhododendron, juniper and a large conifer forest with their fragrant aroma. The trail then heads through Yak Kharka (meaning grazing pasture for yak) and various Sherpa villages. Throughout the trek we will have some impressive views of Khumbu La Pass and Tengboche.

      Today we trek through the valley among juniper forests. On the trail we have astonishing views of Mt. Cho Oyu, Mt. Khangtega (6782m) and Mt. Thamserku (6623m). In the afternoon we will arrive at Machhermo Village (4470m) where we will spend the remainder of the day exploring the village and nearby countryside.

      On the trail this morning we will come to a place where before your eyes is the soaring Mt. Cho Oyu (8281m) โ€“ a real staggering moment.  Further down the trail we come to the gorge at the base of Mt. Khangtega. The massive Ngozumpa Glacier is also a magical moment. After a lunch break we continue to Gokyoโ€™s fifth lake where your camera can capture the spectacular turquoise blue water. A steady climb up from here takes us to Gokyo.

      Today is a challenging day as we climb a steep trail to the peak of Gokyo RI (5357m). The dazzling views will leave you enthralled and your camera clicking furiously to capture the scene. The superb views of Gokyo Valley, the massive Ngozumpa Glacier (worldโ€™s highest), incredible panoramic views of the entire Khumbu region, including the towering peaks of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, Cho-Oyu and Gychung Kang (7952m) will leave you speechless. We will then return to the beginning of Cho La Pass where we will stay overnight in a dormitory.  

  • Day 9 Day 9: Trek To Lunden (4300M) Via Renjo La Pass (5340M) 6-7 Hours.

      An early start will see us climbing to the highest point on this trek, Gokyo Ri (5333m) from where we have fantastic view of the massive Ngozumpa Glacier, upper Gokyo Valley and views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Nuptse, Cho-Oyu, and Gychung Kang. We then head up and over Renjo La Pass at (5345m) and then head down to Lungden Village (4,350m) for the night.

      Today we head off to Thame (3800m) where we will visit the celebrated Thame monastery and observe the soothing and enchanting Buddhist prayers of the monks. We will also discover the Sherpa hospitality, traditions and culture of the local people in Thame. Thame is also the birthplace of Apa Sherpa who has made it to the summit of Everest 21 times! Tonight we will stay at Thame and prepare for tomorrowโ€™s descent back to Namche Bazaar.

      The trail today heads through numerous villages including Khumjung, and on the trail the mountains will be behind us as we continue on to the famous predominantly Buddhist town of Namche Bazaar with its wealth of Sherpa culture and energetic atmosphere. It is a popular place where trekkers rest and share stories.

      This is our last day on the trail as we return to our starting point at Lukla. This is a time where we will reflect on this amazing journey and breathe a sigh of relief after completing this physically challenging trek. The afternoon is free for you to do whatever you please. You may decide a hot shower is in order, or maybe a few drinks at a bar.

      To avoid the strong and unpredictable winds that are common in the afternoons we will take an early morning flight back to Kathmandu. From up high we can stare down on the vast Himalayan Mountains and reflect on our adventure into these mountains.

      The trip concludes and our airport representative will drop you to Kathmanduโ€™s Tribhuvan International Airport at least three hours prior to your departure from Nepal.
