We will experience more breathtaking scenery as the towering, majestic peaks overwhelm our senses with panoramic views of Annapurna, Pisang Peak, and several others. We will notice a change in the landscape and vegetation from today.

      ยญ

The cold, dry climate creates a much harsher environment. Our short visit to Barge Monastery, the largest in the entire district of Manang, will be memorable.

      ยญ

Overnight at the Manang - breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

  • Day 7 Manang - Acclimatization Day
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

This day is set aside for acclimatization to the higher altitude. Weโ€™ll spend our time visiting the monastery with a side trip to Gangapurna Lake. We can also look around the local villages and visit the Himalayan Rescue Association Clinic.

      ยญ

From Manang village, the trail first crosses a stream, then ascends to Tenki above Manang, and heads northwest up the Jarsang Khola Valley. The path winds through juniper scrubs and pastures, gradually gaining elevation. Youโ€™ll pass the small village of Ghunsa, continue through meadows where horses and yaks graze, and cross a river on a wooden bridge. The trail then passes an ancient Mani wall before reaching Yak Kharka, a small village known for its meadows. The gentle ascent helps in acclimatizing to avoid altitude sickness.

      ยญ

Youโ€™ll stay overnight at a Yak kharka, with meals included.

On day 10, we will make our way to the foot of the pass to Throng Phedi. This is a small yet busy settlement catering to the needs of tired trekkers and climbers. Groups such as ours use this point as a base camp.

Some members of the group might want to hike to the High Camp today to make the next day easier for them โ€“although the Nepal Hiking Team has reservations about this.

      ยญ

There is a tough day planned for tomorrow and we stop at Thorong Phedi in order to sleep soundly (rather than risk a less peaceful night in the higher altitude at High Camp).

      ยญ

Overnight at Thorong Phedi  - breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Weโ€™ll start early to tackle the steep ascent to the pass while weโ€™re fresh. The trail initially is steep, turning slushy from melting snow as we near the peak. At the summit of the pass (5416m), youโ€™ll be rewarded with a breathtaking 360-degree panorama of snow-capped peaks stretching into Tibet.

      ยญ

Behind, the peaks of Annapurna loom, and ahead, the Kali Gandaki gorge unfurls below us. From here, we descend sharply to Muktinath (3800m), a significant pilgrimage site for Hindus and a cultural hub for ethnic Tibetans and Buddhists.

      ยญ

The day concludes with an overnight stay at a Muktinath, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Important Note: The flight to/from Jomsom gets delayed/canceled very often due to unfavorable weather conditions. So in case our flight to Pokhara is canceled on the scheduled date, we will drive to Pokhara on the same day, which takes about 8 hours by jeep.
