Todayโ€™s trek is an easier one as we cross several bridges over the Dudh Kosi River via the charming villages of Toc-Toc, Benkar and Monjo before arriving at the official gateway to Sagarmatha National Park. The trail follows the river flats for several hours and crosses one final bridge before climbing up a steep hill until we arrive at Namche Bazaar, a bustling modern town with many services such as restaurants, hotels, internet cafes, and banks.

Day 4: Acclimatization Day At Namche Bazaar.

We will spend the day acclimatizing, which is necessary before heading to the higher altitudes. Health experts say that we should stay active in order to better acclimatize. We have several options: we can trek to Thame or visit Khunde. The third option is to walk around Namche Bazaar and visit the weekly market on Friday evening and Saturday morning. Your guide will take you to the Tourist Visitor Center located near to the headquarters of the Sagarmatha National Park that has a fascinating display of gear and remnants of the first Everest mountaineers. You can also be informed about the flora and fauna of the region.

Today we follow the fast flowing Dudh Kosi River as its glacial waters plummet down from the mountains. The trail also offers some spectacular mountain views as we steadily climb higher to 3860 meters at Tengboche Village, famous for its decorative Tibetan style wall hangings and 6 meters tall Buddha, Tibetan musical instruments and stunning Lama robes. A highlight of visiting here will be witnessing and participating in the evening prayer at the monastery that is both relaxing and calming to your soul.

    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 6: Trek To Dingboche (4,350M) 5-6 Hours.

Today we have an easy trek to Dingboche โ€“ except for the last section where we have to climb a steep hill, which acts as a reminder that trekking at higher altitudes is physically hard work. We will first have to pass through the villages of Somare (4010m) and Orsho. A little further down the trail we come to a fork and take the left trail fork that takes us to Pheriche Village and then we cross a bridge before that steep ascent to Dingboche Village (4410m) that has several good lodges where we can stay the night.

  • Day 7 Day 7: Acclimatization Day At Dingboche.
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 7: Acclimatization Day At Dingboche.

We will spend the day in and around Dingboche acclimatizing. This is a well known and popular destination for hikers and climbers heading to Mount Everest, Ama Dablam, or Island Peak. Dingboche is an attractive village with fields surrounded by stone walls to protect precious crops like barley, buckwheat, and potatoes from strong winds and grazing animals. You can choose to explore Dingboche and get used to the thin air that you will experience as you head higher. We may trek to either Nagarjuna Hill or Chukhung Village for impressive views of Makalu, Lhotse, Cholatse, Tawache, and Ama Dablam.  The other option is to climb up to Nangkartshang Peak at 5,100 meters. It is about a 4-hour tough climb to the top.

  • Day 8 Day 8: Trek To Lobuche (4940) 5-6 Hours.
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 8: Trek To Lobuche (4940) 5-6 Hours.

This morning we head off to Dughla Village and then cross a steep moraine at the base of the Khumbu Glacier - crossing slopes covered with boulders. We continue to head higher to Chupki Lhara that has an array of stones with prayer flags placed as a memorial to climbers Scott Fischer (American) and ten-time Everest summiteer Babu Chiri Sherpa (Nepalese guide) who died while trying to climb Everest. As we head to the Khumbu Glacier moraine a number of huge peaks stare right at us: Khumbutse, Lingtren, Pumori, and Mahalangur Himal. This is truly an awesome sight.

  • Day 9 Day 9: Trek To Gorak Shep (5,180M) & Hike To Everest Base Camp (5,364M) 7-9 Hours.
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 9: Trek To Gorak Shep (5,180M) & Hike To Everest Base Camp (5,364M) 7-9 Hours.

We are slowly getting closer to our ultimate destination as we head higher passing Gorakshep Lake and then further on come to a memorial that honors Indian mountaineers who have died on Mt. Everest. Walking now is more physically tiring as a result of less oxygen at this higher altitude. The trail from here means trekking over rocks, moraine and streams prior to arriving at EBC. The first thing that we notice on arrival at EBC is the colorful tents of mountaineers waiting for the right conditions before an attempt to climb to the summit of Mt. Everest. From EBC we have uninterrupted views of Nuptse, Khumbutse and Pumori with snow glistening on their peaks. After a rest and look around EBC we head back to Gorakshep after a tough day.

  • Day 10 Day 10: Hike Up To Kala Pathar (5550M) And Trek Pangboche (3985M) Hours.
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 10: Hike Up To Kala Pathar (5550M) And Trek Pangboche (3985M) Hours.

We are up early this morning in the pre-dawn darkness, with temperatures ranging between -10 to -14C as we make our way up to Kala Patthar. There is also the likelihood of strong winds that will add to the chill factor โ€“ so add a few layers! In the east you can see the peaks of Lingtren, Khumbutse, and Changtse. Everest will also start to appear. Upon reaching the summit of Kala Patthar we will be ecstatic as we absorb the 360 degree views and the looming face of Mt. Everest that appears right in front of you. Now is a camera moment and time to take some splendid snaps of Everest that will be a reminder of your trek to EBC and Nepal. We will then descend to Pangboche for the night.

  • Day 11 Day 11: Trek To Namche Bazaar (3,440M) Hours.
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 11: Trek To Namche Bazaar (3,440M) Hours.

This morning we take the trail down and through oak and juniper trees and then cross the Dudh Koshi River and follow the Dudh Koshi gorge through pine forests. In the forest you may get to see colorful pheasants (Nepalโ€™s national bird) and mountain goats (Himalayan Thar). The trail then comes to Sanasa from where you have some great views of Ama Dablam, Thamserku Khangtega and Nuptse. Next stop is the thriving and bustling town of Namche Bazaar.

  • Day 12 Day 12: Trek To Lukla (2,860M) 6-7 Hours.
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 12: Trek To Lukla (2,860M) 6-7 Hours.

This morning we head back to Phakding on our final day on the trail. We expect to arrive at Lukla with time to spare giving you a chance to explore the village and nearby countryside. You will take a breath and look back at this astonishing journey, look over your photos and catch up on emails to your family and friends. This is the time for you to congratulate yourself, party a little and have a few drinks to celebrate your success.

    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 13: Fly Back To Kathmandu (1,350M) 35 Minutes.

This morning we are up early in time to catch our flight back to Kathmandu โ€“ this time with a new awareness of the mountains below. After arriving back at Kathmandu there will be time to do some last-minute shopping for souvenirs or to catch up with friends. You can also stroll through the narrow and winding streets of Thamel and maybe head for a cafรฉ or bar for your last night in Nepal. Our guides will be there to point you in the right direction, whether it is for directions to someplace in Kathmandu or to a place to go shopping.

  • Day 14 Day 14: Transfer To The International Airport For Your Final Departure.
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm
