Phakding To Namche Bazaar (3480M) (5-6 Hours)

The trail will begin relatively simple but will gradually become more difficult. You will catch your first glimpse of Everest as you cross the mighty Dudh Koshi. As you go further, the trail will lead you to Monjo, where you can stop for lunch.

The next section of the trail will be more difficult. As we approach Namche, the trail becomes vertical and the altitude increases, causing shortness of breath. Instead of increasing the walking pace, one should take slow and steady steps.

You will make a pit stop at Namche Bazaar to spend the night. People from and around the Solukhumbu region gather in this area to do business. There are shops, restaurants, hotels, a bank, and internet services to help you stay in touch with your loved ones, friends, and relatives. Namche Bazaar provides an intriguing look into how people survive in the region.

On the fifth day of the Three Passes Everest Trek, you can spend your time acclimatizing, relaxing, and exploring the surroundings. Most trekkers prefer to wake up before sunrise to take in the breathtaking views of Mount Everest, Thamserku, Amadablam, and other majestic peaks in Sagarmatha National Park. One can see the shadow of the giant Himalayas being projected onto the clouds above and truly appreciate their size. As an energy source, try salt-butter tea and champa, a type of barley commonly consumed by Sherpas in the region. The lively cultural Saturday market is worth a visit, as it is usually packed with traders desperate to sell their goods.

We will leave early in the morning for Thame. One must be ready for drastic and rapid changes in climate and temperature. The sun will be bright one minute and pitch black the next. The first part of the trek is easy because it is relatively flat. However, the views will be outrageous.

After a few hours, you will arrive in Thame. In the nearby village of Nauje, there is a small monastery for Tibetan nuns. The monastery boasts a breathtakingly beautiful giant prayer wheel, carved and painted in vibrant Nepali colors. Weโ€™ll be having lunch near the monastery. Weโ€™ll go for a walk to gain some extra height and to help adjust to the altitude.
