Pisang is the beginning of our trek into the upper Manang area. Today we follow a trail to Braga; a Tibetan village with its unique architecture and houses constructed one upon the other. One of Manangโ€™s main attractions is its Gompa (Buddhist temple), being the biggest in the Manang region. Manang is also very popular with trekkers who stay here in order to acclimatize before heading higher.

Day 7: Trek To Muktinath (3,800M/12467 Ft) Via Thorung La Pass (5,416M/17764 M) 8-9 Hours.

Today will be the toughest day of the trek as we head to higher altitudes and trek for 8 and 9 hours. The higher altitude will make it more difficult and the common strong winds in these upper regions will also challenge you physically. On the trail we may pass sheep, yaks and merchants transporting their goods by Yak or donkey. On reaching Thorong La Pass we will have some truly astonishing views of Annapurna, Gangapurna and the prominent peak of Khatungkang (6484m). After crossing the pass we plunge a staggering 1600 meters. Mt. Dhaulagiri (Dhavali giri, meaning โ€œWhite Mountainโ€) is the highest mountain that is entirely in Nepal and can be seen along the trail. The trail is more undulating and quite easy on the way to Muktinath.

Today we head by road down into the Kali Gandaki valley (deepest in the world) on our way to Jomsom, the regional centre of Mustang. From here we find transport to the village of Tatopani (meaning hot water in Nepali). On the way we can see Annapurna and Dhaulagiri before arriving at Tatopani. You will most likely take a plunge into the therapeutic hot pools to relax.
