Flights

Round trip flight from Kathmandu - Lukla / Lukla - Kathmandu including airport departure tax.

1 professional and friendly, A class government licensed and well English speaking mountain guide. (you will meet your Guide in Lukla airport)

All necessary trekking permits: Sagarmatha National Park and Trekkersโ€™ Information Management System (TIMS) fee. In the worst case, assist with all rescue and evacuation arrangements. Sherpa Expedition and Trekking sleeping bag and down jacket, duffel bag, area trekking map. First aid medical kit, Oximeter to check pulse, heart rate, and oxygen saturation at higher altitude. Nepal visa (can obtain at the airport or immigration counters at the borders: USD 25 for 15 days and USD 40 for 30 days and two passport size photographs is required). Your international flight to and from Nepal. Travel insurance (for helicopter evacuation if needed whilst trekking). Personal expenses such as laundry, telephone, internet/e-mail, etc. Tips for guide, porter, driver. Please be advised that if you need to return early from the trek due to reasons such as sickness, unfavorable weather conditions, personal issues, itinerary modifications, or any other unforeseen circumstances, the following conditions apply: - Any payments made for flights, hotel accommodations, mountain room bookings, meals, and related expenses are nonrefundable. - You will be required to cover the costs of hotel stays, meals, and other expenses in Kathmandu independently. Additionally, please note that during the months of March to May and September to November, all flights will depart from Ramechhap. It will be necessary for you to make a 4-5 hour drive from Kathmandu to Ramechhap in order to catch your flight. Kindly consider these terms and arrangements carefully before commencing your trek.   • Day 1 Day 1: Arrival In Kathmandu (1,350M) Transfer To Hotel.

      A representative from Sherpa Expedition and Trekking will meet you at the airport and take you to our hotel. Kathmandu is a city full of lively markets, busy streets, colorful temples, and grand pagodas. The rest of the day you will have an opportunity to stroll around the area closest to your hotel in Thamel and catch up on some last-minute shopping for equipment. This evening your guide will provide you with valuable information about the trek.

      Today we take a short flight from Kathmandu to Lukla and then trek to Phakding (2610m), a small village in the Khumbu region of Nepal in the Dudh Kosi River valley.

      The trail begins as we cross several suspension bridges over the Dudh Kosi River before passing through the villages of Tok-Tok, Benkar, and Monjo before arriving at the Sagarmatha National Park entrance gate where you will be required to show your trekking permit. After following the river bed for a few hours, and after crossing the last Hillary suspension bridge, there is a steep uphill climb to Namche Bazaar. Namche Bazaar has a good variety of restaurants, an internet cafรฉ, pubs, post office, ATM, and banks.

      Acclimatization is critical for your safety when climbing at high altitudes. Health professionals strongly recommended that you stay active during the day, so today we will trek to the villages of Khunde and Khumjung and take in the spectacular views of Mt. Everest before returning to Namche Bazaar.  At Namche Bazaar you may wish to view what is supposed to be a Yeti skull!  Namche Bazaar also boasts of having a bakery! Wandering around Namche Bazaar is another way to remain active.

  • Day 5 Day 5: Namche Bazaar To Tengboche (3,870M) Duration 5-6 Hours.

      The trail today follows along the banks of the swift-flowing glacial waters of the Dudh Kosi River, and along the trail, you will have some magnificent views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Taboche and Amadablam. We will reach an altitude of 3,800 meters at Tengboche. At the Tengboche monastery, there are beautiful ornate wall hangings, a 20-foot sculpture of various poses of the Buddha, musical instruments, and robes of the Lamas. You will be taken to observe a prayer ceremony, either in the evening or in the morning, depending on how the trekking goes this day. The chanting is soothing to the soul.

      Today we descend on a three to four-hour trek on a trail passing through forests before crossing the Imja Khola (river) and pass through the village of Pangboche, memorable for its fields surrounded by rock walls. Tonight we stay at Dingboche.

      Our trek today is along a relatively easy route up to Chhukung. From here you will appreciate the splendid view of Mt. Ama Dablam. The views of Island Peak from Chhukung (and further up the valley) are quite stunning. Todayโ€™s trek is a short one, mostly downhill, before arriving at Dingboche where we stay overnight. The trail in this area is often accompanied with strong winds.

  • Day 8 Day 8: Dingboche To Lobuche (4940) Duration 5-6 Hours.

      The trail today passes several Chortens (Tibetan shrines & tombs) and will take around 1.5 hours before we arrive at Thugla Village (4600m) where we will stop for lunch at its tea house. After lunch, we head in the direction of some massive peaks, such as Mt Pumori (7161m) and Mt. Nuptse (7861m) before arriving at Lobuche Village (4940m). We then follow the trail through a board valley before coming to Thukla and after leaving the Pheriche Aid Post at Pheriche (4371m). The first aid post is only manned during peak trekking seasons. We then descend to the yak pastures of the small settlement of Lobuche where we will stay overnight.

      Today is a highlight of this trek as we head to Mt. Everest Base Camp through the vast area around Gorak Shep. Along the trail, we pass the Indian army mountaineersโ€™ memorial. At this point the path can be baffling, so following your guide is essential. The thin air at this high altitude can make you feel more tired. We traverse rocky terrain, moraines, and streams before arriving at Mt. Everest Base Camp. From Everest Base Camp you can view some of the worldโ€™s highest peaks, in contrast with the rather bleak surroundings - especially in the spring. From here we can see Mt. Khumbutse, Nuptse, and Pumori. We will then return to Gorak Shep for a welcome nightโ€™s rest after an exhausting trek to EBC. 

  • Day 10 Day 10: Hike To Kala Pathar (5550M) And Trek Pangboche (3985M) Duration 7-9 Hours.

      At 4 a.m. in the pre-dawn light and cold temperatures (-10 to -14 C) we head out on the short trek to Kala Pathar. It is not unusual for there to be cold winds at this altitude that add to the chill factor. Soaring peaks, such as Khumbutse, Lingtren, and Changtse open up before us with Everest coming into view in the east. Once we reach Kala Patthar (5550m) we get a 360 degree and up-close view of Mount Everest. After taking in the broad views before us, and with us frantically clicking cameras, we will return to Lobuche and then on to Pangboche for a good nightโ€™s rest.

      Today we return on the same trail descending to the Imja Khola (river) and then head up through the rhododendron forest to Tengboche Monastery. This will be a chance to see the nuns perform their religious ceremonies at the Tengboche Monastery. After a lunch break at Tengboche, we cross a hillside of vivid colorful rhododendron and juniper trees. After crossing the bridge over the (milky river) Dudh Koshi River the trailheads along the Dudh Koshi gorge with a rapid descent through pine forests before arriving at Sansa. Along the way we keep our eyes focused on wildlife, such as (Himalaya Thar) mountain goats, snow leopards, and colorful pheasants in the forest. After passing a Chorten we come to the Army camp at Namche Bazaar where we will stay the night.

      This is the last day of trekking before heading back to our starting point at Lukla. This is a time to look back on the unforgettable memories of our trek and how we have achieved our personal goals. A free afternoon will give you time to relax, enjoy a hot shower, and wander around Lukla. In the evening we will celebrate over a few drinks at the successful conclusion of our adventure.

      After our 14 day trek, we head to the airstrip for an early morning flight to Kathmandu. During the flight, you can look down on the magnificent Himalayan Mountains. After arriving at Kathmandu, you can take a rest or do some last-minute shopping. This may also be a time to catch up on seeing places you missed in Kathmandu. Your guide will be available to assist you with souvenir shopping or sightseeing.

      Your adventure in Nepal comes to an end today โ€“ but your memories will be with you for a lifetime! A representative from Sherpa Expedition & Trekking will take you to the airport at least 3 hours before your scheduled flight. On your way home youโ€™ll have time to plan your next adventure and explore the mountains of Nepal.
