Walking now is more physically demanding as a result of lesser oxygen at this altitude. The trail is rocky with moraines and streams to cross prior to reaching EBC. The first thing that strikes us on arrival at EBC is the array of colorful tents of mountaineers waiting for the right weather conditions before attempting an ascent to the summit. From EBC we can distinctly see Nuptse, Khumbutse and Pumori and the dazzling white snow on their peaks. In the east are the peaks of Lingtren, Khumbutse, and Changtse. Everest also starts to appear as we climb higher. On reaching the summit of Kala Patthar we will be overjoyed as we take in the 360 degree views and the massive and intimidating Mt. Everest that appears right before your eyes!  Make sure your camera is ready and charged while you photograph some awesome images of Mt.Everest that will be a reminder of this memorable trek to EBC in Nepal. We will then descend to Pangboche for the night. Breakfast, lunch & dinner are included.

We will stop here for a lunch break before crossing a hillside of juniper and rhododendron trees. Next we will cross over the Dudh Koshi River and down a steep trail through the gorge and pine trees to Sansa Village. In this final leg of our journey it is likely we will see a variety of animals, such as mountain goats, snow leopards (elusive) and the stunning colored pheasants (Nepalโ€™s national emblem).
