Itinerary of your trip Coast To Coast Cycling Tour India

  • Day 1 Chennai - Mahabalipuram
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Chennai - Mahabalipuram

You arrive in Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu. Our driver or team leader meets you at the hotel in which you will be staying and will drive you to the Mahabalipuram.

Located on a strip of land about 56 km (a one-and-a-half hour drive) south of Chennai, Mahabalipuram is renowned for a number of religious monuments dating back to the 7th and 8th centuries. Due to its location and topography, this town has been an important centre of sea trade for millennia.

Our first day in Mahabalipuram is devoted to resting and relaxing at a comfortable hotel. You get introduced to the biking team and make the acquaintance of other cyclists in the group. If you wish, you can go for a short spin of the town to test your bike. We dine and overnight at the hotel.

The road is mostly tarmac and makes for a pretty smooth and enjoyable ride.

We stop by at a highway restaurant for lunch and press on for Pondicherry. As we approach the town, its rich colonial heritage becomes all too apparent in the architecture of the buildings. We check into a hotel or a home-stay, depending upon your preference, and rest awhile before stepping out for a short city tour.

Pondicherry sits right at the coast and the fresh sea breeze coming in during the evening brings out hordes of locals and tourists for strolls along the cobbled promenade, also called the Gourbert Avenue.
