Itinerary of your trip Immerse In Anime: 7-Day Tour Of Tokyo’S Anime Scene

  • Day 1 Tokyo
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Tokyo

After arriving in Tokyo, you’ve got some free time to get a feel for the city, once you’ve checked into your accommodation.

  • Day 2 Edo-Tokyo Museum, Inogashira Park, Harmonica Yokocho, And Suga Shrine
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Edo-Tokyo Museum, Inogashira Park, Harmonica Yokocho, And Suga Shrine

The first day of your Japan anime tour kicks off in style, with a visit to the Edo-Tokyo Open-Air Architectural Museum, which provides a fascinating glimpse into Tokyo’s past. This museum aims to relocate, reconstruct, preserve, and exhibit historical buildings of great cultural value that are impossible to preserve at their original location, as well as to pass on these valuable cultural heritages to future generations. Hayao Miyazaki often visited here during the creation of the Oscar-winning Spirited Away  for inspiration!

After this, we’ll head to the area around Inogashira Park, a green haven in Tokyo’s trendy Kichijoji area. Take some time to wander here, before heading into Harmonica Yokocho. This atmospheric warren of alleyways is home to clothing stores, bars, and local eateries – making it the perfect place to grab some lunch. If you’d like to explore further afield, you’ll have some free time here – so be sure to ask your Adventure Leader for recommendations!

We’ll then take you to the Suga Shrine. During the Edo period, the Shrine was originally two separate shrines – Gozutennou and Inari. However, after the Meiji Restoration, they became enshrined together as the Suga. You might know this spot too: the stairway of the shrine appears at the end of the movie Your Name, at which Taki Tachibana and Mitsuha Miyamizu fatefully encounter each other physically for the first time!

You have the option today to explore the Shinjuku Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) food district, which is filled with dozens of tiny eateries serving ramen, soba, sushi, yakitori and kushiyaki.

  • Day 3 Tokyo - Cruise On Sumida River
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Tokyo - Cruise On Sumida River

Today, take a cruise up Sumida River for some incredible vistas across Tokyo. Then, we’ll take you to Asakusa, where you can learn about the history of Buddhism in Japan at the Sensoji Temple.

Then, step out of the past and into the future with a trip to Akihabara - Electric Town! Here, you can explore the neighbourhood’s stores, or have a ’Made in Tokyo’ experience with a visit to one of the city’s maid cafés. (1800JPY) Then you can step into an experience fresh from a video game, because you’ll be off Kartoon Karting! Race themed go-karts around the streets of Tokyo (surcharge applies, booking necessary).

This evening, limber up those vocal cords and get ready for a truly Japanese experience - karaoke! This is karaoke with a twist, but you’ll have to join us to find out why...

  • Day 4 Tokyo - Meji Shrine
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Tokyo - Meji Shrine

If you’re a worshipper of all things otaku, a trip to Nakano Broadway is a must. This vast shopping arcade is filled with amazing collectables, anime memorabilia, and action figures. Next, you’re heading back in time with a trip to the Meiji Shrine in the Harajuku District, before moving back to the future with a visit to Harajuku’s shopping area - you’ll see everything from punks to maids there!

Before you’re free to explore for the rest of the day, we’ll take you to see Shibuya Crossing, often thought of as one of the world’s busiest pedestrian junctions. Observe the organised chaos from above the crowds.

  • Day 5 Tokyo - Sunshine City
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Tokyo - Sunshine City

Start the day off with a leisurely wander around the Ikebukuro district, before you explore the Sunshine City shopping mall. Here, you’ll be able to set your inner child free at Japan’s largest indoor theme park, Namjatown! There’s plenty of attractions, and an entire street of dessert stores. Also in Sunshine City is the amazing Pokémon Center Mega Tokyo - a haven for any fan of Pikachu and his friends! As well as a huge array of original merchandise, you can also play on some retro editions of the best Pokémon games that we all love.

  • Day 6 Tokyo - Free Day
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Tokyo - Free Day

We’re letting you loose in the city today! You’ve got a free day where you can either head off on your own steam, or follow your adventure leader to see some of the biggest sites in Tokyo. You might want to explore the beautiful scenery of Shinjuku Gyoen, one of Tokyo’s largest parks - especially if it’s cherry blossom season! Alternatively, if you want to stock up on souvenirs, head to Ameyoko Market.

  • Day 7 Tokyo - Departure Day
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Tokyo - Departure Day

Today is hometime! Depending on your flight teams, you can either head to the airport in the morning, or spend some Tokyo exploring with your tour leader before you go.
