      Your Tokyo sightseeing tour starts with a visit to Meiji Shrine, a magnificent 20th-century Shinto monument set in a man- made forest. Soak in the peaceful surroundings here and make a wish on a traditional ema before heading on to Asakusa for a glimpse of Old Tokyo. Last Browse the craft shops along Nakamise Street. 

      Last enjoy the sweeping views of this vast city at the Observations deck at the famous Tokyo Tower, the landmark of Tokyo (entry included).

      After breakfast, drive to Mt. Fujiโ€™s 5th Station. Located 2300m above sea level, Mt. Fujiโ€™s 5th Station offers a commanding view of the Fuji Five Lakes area below, making it a popular spot even for those who do not intend on climbing the mountain, and it features shrines, torii gates and souvenir shops. 

      Afterwards continue onwards to Lake Kawaguchiko, nearby in Hakone National Park, to admire the scenery as you enjoy a short cruise across the lake. The waters are overlooked by surrounding mountains, including Mt. Fuji and Mt Komagatake. Arrive in Nagano Region this afternoon, check into the hotel and enjoy the evening at leisure.

      Today is a fun day to visit the countryside of Japan and see how local people live. First visit Shirakawa-Go declared a UNESCO world heritage site in 1995, itโ€™s famous for their traditional gassho-zukuri farmhouses, some of which are more than 250 years old. Last visit Takayama Old Town and walk along Sannomachi Street, which survives in a particularly pretty state with many old homes, shops, and restaurants.

      This morning visit Kenrokuen, justifiably classified as one of Japanโ€™s" most beautiful landscape gardens". Opened to the public in 1871, Kenrokuen features a variety of flowering trees which provide the garden with a different look for each season. Kanazawa is home to 99% of all gold leaf made in Japan and today you will enjoy a once-in-a-life-time experience attending a Gold Leaf Craft workshop and will see the gold leaf process and decorate your own items. Proceed to Kyoto and enjoy the balance of the day at your own pace.

      Enjoy a comprehensive sightseeing tour of Kyoto today. First visit Kiyomizu-dera, one of the most celebrated temples of Japan. It was founded in 780 and was added to the list of UNESCO world heritage sites in 1994. Kiyomizudera is best known for its wooden stage that juts out from its main hall, 13 meters above the hillside. 

      Then enjoy a walk at Ninenzaka, Kyotoโ€™s best old street lined with historic Japanese-style buildings that typify Kyoto. Enjoy the afternoon at your leisure or join one of the amazing optional activities including Maiko Dinner show ($250 USD).

      After breakfast visit Nijo Castle, one of the more complete examples of a castle complex in Japan. It earns its place as a world heritage property for these many cultural assets. Then drive to Himeji and visit the famous Himeji Castle. Also known as White Heron Castle (Shirasagijo) due to its elegant, white appearance, Himeji Castle is widely considered Japanโ€™s most spectacular castle for its imposing size and beauty and its well preserved, complex castle grounds. The castle is both a national treasure and a world heritage site. Finish the day in Okayama or Hiroshima area

      Head to Hiroshima and board a boat travelling to the majestic Miyajima Island, otherwise known as Itsukushima, or Divine Island. A landmass hailed as one of Japanโ€™s most beautiful landscapes. Disembark and discover the natural and cultural treasures of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Island for 45-minutes with your guide. See the shimmering Itsukushima Shrine then revitalise with a delicious lunch in a local eatery (not included). Re-board the boat and cruise back to Hiroshima to reflect on the history of the region. Take a moment of contemplation at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, a historical site near to where the atomic bomb exploded. See exhibitions that articulate the destruction the bomb caused and marvel at the cityโ€™s regenerative recovery. Finally, board a bus to the Atomic Bomb Dome (Genbaku Dome), a skeletal structure that miraculously survived the 1945 attack.

      Enjoy a free day to rest or explore Okayama at your own leisure. Alternatively join an optional tour to visit Naoshima Art Island ($135 USD). Naoshima is an island in Japanโ€™s Seto Inland Sea, part of Kagawa Prefecture. The island is best known for its is known for its contemporary art museums, architecture and sculptures.

      Kagawa Prefecture is known for its excellent udon noodles. Visit Takamatsu Udon School which offers a workshop that lets you try making Sanuki udon noodles by hand. Then visit Ritsurin Garden, the largest Cultural Property Garden in all of Japan, and is an important cultural asset that has been maintained for nearly 400 years. The spacious park features many ponds, hills, historic trees and beautiful pavilions divided into a Japanese style garden in the south and western style garden in the north. The gardens are set in front of wooded Mt. Shiun which serves as a wonderful background and great example of borrowed scenery. Proceed to Osaka and check in to the hotel.

      Today ,visit Nara Park, home to hundreds of free-roaming deer - you can feed them deer senbei (crackers), which can be purchased at stalls throughout the park for 200 JPY a pack. This afternoon, weโ€™ll tour Kuromon Ichiba, one of the cityโ€™s main food markets. This spacious covered market features vendors peddling street food, fresh produce, shellfish and trinkets and souvenirs. After a short break for lunch our tour continues to the Minami area in the cityโ€™s south โ€“ a district thatโ€™s bursting with boutiques, designers outlets, restaurants and bars. Weโ€™ll also enjoy a walking tour of the Dลtonbori area. One of Osakaโ€™s most popular tourist destinations, this street runs parallel to the Dลtonbori canal and is a hugely popular destination for shopping, street food, bars and entertainment. At night the streets here are illuminated by hundreds of colourful neon lights and mechanised signs, including the famous running Glico Man sign and the Kani Doraku crab sign.

      Today is a full free day in Osaka to spend at your leisure. Be sure to ask your guide for recommendations on great places to see and eat. 

      Or Join an optional tour to Ine, known as "Kyoto by the Sea" ($125 USD).

      The village is built on the waters of Ine Bay, one of UNESCOโ€™s Worldโ€™s Most Beautiful Bays, and the 230 โ€œfunayaโ€ (boat houses) that line the bay trace their origins back to the Edo period. Funaya, the boat houses, are unique buildings, standing along the Ine bay coast line. The first floor of Funaya is used as a boat garage and aworkspace for fisherman. The second floor is used as a living space.

      Amanohashidate is an iconic land bridge that straddles the Japanese Sea and Miyazu Bay.

      Chionji Temple is located at the southern entrance to the Amanohashidate sandbar and is dedicated to Monju, the bodhisattva of wisdom.

      Today marks the end of your incredible tour through Japan. Departure and check out: There are several ways to travel from your hotel to either Osaka International Airport (ITM) or Kansai International Airport (KIX), from shuttle buses to trains and taxis. Transport to the airports can cost between 250 Yen to 21,000 Yen depending on the form of transport you choose. Your Tour Leader will be able to assist you arrange the most convenient way to the airport on the last day of the trip. Travelers will be departing at various times throughout the day. Standard hotel check-out is from 10am-12pm. You are welcome to leave your luggage at hotel reception and spend your final moments of free time exploring the area or alternatively please speak with hotel staff if you would like to extend your check-out time. Please note this service is subject to availability and will likely come at an additional cost.
