Day 1: SAMPLE 5D PROGRAMME IN SIEM REAP WITH HOME STAY

SOK SAN HOME-STAY AND CULTURAL EXCHANGE
Cultural Exchange, Village Experience & Community Service
This program is designed with a series of activities which includes:
I. TO LOVE, CARE AND BENEFIT
1. To show the value of care to youths and children.
2. To nurture the sense of empathy and compassion, focusing on the importance and joy of serving the less-privileged with humility and respect through community work.

II. TO VALUE AND APPRECIATE
1. To appreciate diversity in culture, and immerse in a different culture and way of living.
2. Expose students to Asia and the world, and to bring awareness of Home Country’s place in the world.
3. To develop in students a sense of emotional belonging and appreciation to the home country.
4. To make global connections.
5. To build up students’ social emotional competencies.
6. Develop students to be compassionate leaders by exposing them to experiential learning.

III. TO DEVELOP
1. Students with relevant skills to be confident and competent global citizens who are sensitive to cultural differences.
2. To build on students’ strengths and empower them to work towards achieving their fullest potential.
3. To develop in students, the 21st century competencies of global awareness and cross-cultural skills and sensitivities.
4. To gain socio-emotional competencies such as self-awareness, social awareness and relationship management.
5. To instill ruggedness, resilience and strength of character in the students
6. To promote independent and collaborative learning among others that contribute to personal growth.
7. Provide exposure to the students and sensitize them to the place of their home country in the region and deepen their commitment and rootedness to their home country.

DAY 1 ARRIVAL – Siem Reap – Home Stay (-LD) Arrive in Siem Reap Visit Angkor Silk Farm Lunch at local restaurant Visit Old Market / local market Proceed to the Home-stay Check in to and familiarize with the Home-stay Planning and discussion of service learning activity Dinner near the Home-stay Debrief / Reflections Overnight at the Home-stay.

DAY 3 HOMESTAY (BLD) Breakfast near the Home-stay Bamboo Rice Making Session Lunch near the Home-stay Khmer Noodle Making Session Ride on ox-cart / cycling to view the scenery of village and sunset Bonfire and Cultural Night with dances together with local youths and foreign volunteers Overnight at the Home-stay (Dances only group)

DAY 5 SIEM REAP – Departure (BL-) Breakfast at the Hotel Visit floating village with a cruise on Tonle Sap Lake to see the life of fishermen Visit to Artisans d’Angkor Lunch at local restaurant Transfer to Airport for your flight home.
