Guide

All guides are born and raised in the Okavango Delta. They are part of the Okavango Delta Polers Trust and rotate for jobs. They are looking forward to showing you their backyard and its beauties. In camp the Kalahari Breeze Team will make sure you have an enjoyable and well-catered camping experience.

Meals

All meals are cooked over a fire. Water, fruit juice and soft drinks are included. Alcohol is excluded (can be added on surcharge). We cater for your dietary requierements/allergies. Please do not hesitate to ask.

Accommodation

Our team sets up camp for you on an island in the Okavango Delta in NG 32 concession. This is a wildcamping tour i.e. no fences/bounderies and no permenent structures/running water/electricity. Accomodation is in mini meru tents with twin beds. You sleep on a camping stretcher bed with matress, duvet blanket and pillow. All tents have en-suite bushbathrooms with hot water bucket shower and long drop toilet. Towels are provided.

  • Day 1 In The Channels Of The Okavango Delta
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      In The Channels Of The Okavango Delta

      In the early morning we pick you at your hotel or lodge or the airport in Maun. The tour starts at 07:30h with a transfer on dust roads in an opensided 4x4 safari vehicle. In the Okavango we meet up with you meet your poler, a local villager, who will take you on an unforgettable journey through the channels of the Okavango. Born and raised in the Okavango Delta, our polers and guides show you their home which they are very pationate and knowledgable about. Our experienced polers take you on a journey deep in the watersystem. Enjoy the peace of the delta in a Mokoro, the traditional onetree-canoe. In camp on an island our team awaits you with lunch. After your meal you can freshen up before your guide takes you on an afternoon nature walk where we hope to see more animals and learn about the delta its plants, animals and the tribes living here. Sometimes we even have time to include a gamedrive on the first day. In the evening after dinner in camp, you sit around the campfire sharing the stories of the day.

  • Day 2 On The Islands Of The Okavango
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      On The Islands Of The Okavango

      Spend the whole day deep inside the Okavango. Explore the channels by Mokoro (traditional DugOut Canoe) and go on guided bushwalks and gamewalks with an experienced guide on the islands of the Okavango Delta.


      You are woken up with a warm โ€œDumelaโ€œ (That is the Setswana word for โ€œHelloโ€œ) and a light breakfast waiting for you. After coffee, tea and breakfast you go on your first gameviewing activity (either a nature walk or a canoe excursion). When returning to camp you have the opportunity to shower. Afterwards you will be served brunch. In the afternoon you enjoy a second gameviewing activity often a gamedrive.


      Enjoy delicious meals cooked over the bushfire by our experienced bush chef and share the experiences of the day in the evening sitting around the bushfire before falling asleep in your comfortable tent with the noises of animals and the bush around you.

  • Day 3 Leaving The Okavango
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Leaving The Okavango

      Enjoy a last DugOut Canoe tour or a gamedrive (your guide will let you know depending on local circumstances) before heading back to town. Before sunset you will be back in Maun.


      This is the best way of exploring the Okavango Delta! A real authentic experience of the delta ecosytem and a unique experience to meet and interact with locals on a personal and non-touristy basis.

      Depending on waterlevels, we sometimes also offer gamedrives in a 4x4 vehicle as part of this tour (no extra charge).
