This Roman marvel, nestled in a breathtaking landscape, awaits your admiration. As you take in its grandeur, your tour guide will enlighten you about its historical significanceโ€”it was ingeniously constructed to supply water to the distant city of Nรฎmes, a testament to ancient engineering prowess.

Tour Of The Camargue | Middle Stage - 31 Cycling Kilometers

Embark on a short transfer from the bustling city to the pristine marshlands that border it. Along the way, witness the striking sight of "white gold" ascending into the skyโ€”the expansive salt hills and fields, among the largest in Europe, paint a mesmerizing panorama. As you journey deeper into the nature reserve, your path unfolds through flat expanses of rice fields, enveloped in a salty breeze and the symphony of birdcalls. Along the shores of brackish lakes, rare black storks, graceful gray herons, and vibrantly colored bee-eaters grace the landscape, while Egyptian ibises luxuriate in the warm sunlight. The shallow saltwater lakes come alive with the graceful presence of flamingos, their pink wings contrasting against the azure sky. And if fortune favors you, the legendary white Camargue horses may cross your pathโ€”descendants of an ancient breed immortalized in prehistoric cave art, ridden by the daring "Gardians" in their age-old tradition. Cycling along a flat dam that seems to merge with the sea, youโ€™ll arrive at Saintes Maries de la Mer. This fortified church serves as an annual pilgrimage site for Gypsies from across Europe and once inspired Picasso with its thrilling Flamenco performances. Delve into the unique atmosphere of the crypt and uncover the history of the three Marys and their servant Sara.

After a delectable lunch, a transfer will whisk you back to the Roman city of Arles for a guided tour in the footsteps of van Gogh. Admire the Romanesque beauty of St. Trophime Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and trace the artistโ€™s footsteps through the cityโ€™s shaded alleys, flowing Rhรดne River, and smoky cafรฉs. As the day draws to a close, youโ€™ll arrive at your tranquil retreat near Les Baux, where the Hotel Le Mas de lโ€™Ouliviรฉ awaits. • Day 8 Aix-En-Provence And Departure
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Aix-En-Provence And Departure

We will explore the picturesque old town of this incomparable city of art and culture by strolling through its ancient alleyways. Cรฉzanne loved this place and immortalized many of its faces and scenes on canvas. He was particularly captivated by the sight of Mont Sainte-Victoire; occasionally, you may catch a glimpse of its distinctive peak between the pink rooftops. Youโ€™ll walk to the impressive Saint-Sauveur Cathedral with its delicately designed walnut wood doors. The church is accompanied by a charming Romanesque cloister from the 12th century. In contrast, the facades of the patrician houses around the market square exude self-confidence, almost boasting. Join us in discovering elaborately crafted wrought-iron gates, extravagant, mannerist decorations, and fascinating trompe lโ€™oeil paintings that create the illusion of architecture - for which Aix is famous. After a guided walk through the city, our tour will end around 12:00 PM at the hotel. Your tour guides will coordinate your departure to Marseille Airport or your starting hotel in Uzรจs. Every 30 minutes, a transfer bus departs from the bus station to the airport, which is located near our hotel.

We recommend extending your stay in Aix-en-Provence. Enjoy a leisurely stroll through the vegetable and herb market or the colorful flower market. A visit to the Granet Museum with some of Cรฉzanneโ€™s works is also worthwhile. We would be happy to reserve an additional night at our contract hotel for you.
