Founded 850 years ago, this venerated headquarter of the mythical Knights Templar is a mix of Gothic and Manueline. Immersed in splendor and mystery, the Knights Templar maintained massive power in Portugal from the 12th to 16th centuries and vastly funded the Age of Discoveries.

      The medieval town of ร“bidos is one of the most picturesque and well-preserved in Portugal. Quite close to the capital and located on high ground near the Atlantic coast, ร“bidos has had strategic importance in the territory. It had already been settled before the Romans arrived on the Iberian Peninsula, and the town prospered after being chosen by the royal family.
