Itinerary of your trip Portuguese Way Of St. James (Central From Oporto) - 14 Days

  • Day 1 Day 1: Porto
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 1: Porto

Porto is the second most important city in Portugal after Lisbon. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and is characterized by its architectural attraction, its spectacular river and the so famous and delicious sweet Port wine. It is worth spending a whole day exploring this beautiful city. We are sure that you will want to return.

  • Day 2 Day 2: Porto - Arcos (21 Km ~ 5 Hours)
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 2: Porto - Arcos (21 Km ~ 5 Hours)

A transfer will take you from Porto to Moreira de Maia, where the first stage of this trip begins. Although this stage is not characterized by an attractive landscape, since it passes practically only through urban areas, it is well marked and as we approach Arcos, the landscape becomes more rural. What stands out here is the Zameiro Bridge.

  • Day 3 Day 3: Arcos - Barcelos (20 Km ~ 5 Hours)
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 3: Arcos - Barcelos (20 Km ~ 5 Hours)

As already mentioned, this stage is fundamentally different from the previous one. The bumps are still moderate and the difficulty low, but the environment becomes increasingly rural. We cross valleys, dirt roads, cornfields and vineyards to finally reach Barcelos via a medieval bridge.

  • Day 4 Day 4: Barcelos - Balugaes (16 Km ~ 4 Hours)
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 4: Barcelos - Balugaes (16 Km ~ 4 Hours)

Today we enter a wine-growing area full of small villages, but also with asphalt stretches. The climb to Portela de Tamel, which is 130 meters above sea level, is the most difficult section of this day.

  • Day 5 Day 5: Balugaes - Ponte De Lima (17 Km ~ 4 Hours)
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 5: Balugaes - Ponte De Lima (17 Km ~ 4 Hours)

The closer Galicia gets, the more green hills flood the landscape. The difficulty of our itinerary remains low, with a short climb in Vitorino dos Piaes and then down to the Lima River, the river that gives its name to the city in which our day ends. In Ponte de Lima, the old town is particularly worth seeing.

  • Day 6 Day 6: Ponte De Lima - Rubiaes (19 Km ~ 5 Hours)
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 6: Ponte De Lima - Rubiaes (19 Km ~ 5 Hours)

Due to the climb to Alto da Portela Grande de Labruja, with an altitude of 315 meters, we will have to face the most difficult stage of the entire route. Once this is overcome, begins a pleasant descent to Rubiaes, which leads to this town via the Roman road.

  • Day 7 Day 7: Rubiaes - Tui (19 Km ~ 5 Hours)
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 7: Rubiaes - Tui (19 Km ~ 5 Hours)

Today we leave Portugal and enter Galicia, Spain. It is a stage with moderate slopes and without great difficulties. We will cross the border between the two countries via the international bridge over the river Miรฑo to reach Tui. In Tui we recommend a visit to the Cathedral.

  • Day 8 Day 8: Tui - Porriรฑo (16.1 Km ~ 4 Hours)
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 8: Tui - Porriรฑo (16.1 Km ~ 4 Hours)

This stage is probably one of the most difficult, but beautiful of the whole trip. We will cross the Miรฑo River and ascend to Ribadelouro. It can be a bit of a drag, since much of the itinerary passes through paved and urban areas, but for pilgrims who want a more natural environment, an alternative has been made possible that crosses the Natural Park of As Gรกndaras to O Porriรฑo. This alternative is also well marked.

  • Day 9 Day 9: Porriรฑo - Redondela (15.5 Km ~ 4 Hours)
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 9: Porriรฑo - Redondela (15.5 Km ~ 4 Hours)

The climbs of this stage are difficult, but the beautiful views from the top reward the effort. Once we reach the charming town of Mos, we find the first climb to Alto de Inxertado. Once this is overcome, we begin a gentle descent towards Redondela.

  • Day 10 Day 10: Redondela - Pontevedra (19.6 Km ~ 5 Hours)
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 10: Redondela - Pontevedra (19.6 Km ~ 5 Hours)

We start the stage towards Setefontes and Arcade (famous for its oysters). Accompanied by the mouth of Vigo, we cross lush forests until we reach the historic bridge "Puente de Sampaio" towards Pontevedra.

  • Day 11 Day 11: Pontevedra - Caldas De Reis (21.1 Km ~ 5 Hours)
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 11: Pontevedra - Caldas De Reis (21.1 Km ~ 5 Hours)

Quiet and pleasant route. We move away from the bumps of the previous sections to enter a much flatter and level terrain. We will pass through several villages until we finally arrive in Caldas de Rei, where pilgrims who want to relax can do so in one of the famous spas.

  • Day 12 Day 12: Caldas De Reis - Padrรณn (18.6 Km ~ 4 Hours)
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 12: Caldas De Reis - Padrรณn (18.6 Km ~ 4 Hours)

Today's stage is scenic, one of the most beautiful and varied. Vineyards, cereal fields, the Bermaรฑa Valley, chestnut forests, eucalyptus ..we enjoy the agricultural Galicia. We end up in Padrรณn, where we can not miss the opportunity to taste the famous peppers.

  • Day 13 Day 13: Padrรณn - Santiago De Compostela (24.3 Km ~ 6 Hours)
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm
