  • Day 1 Day 1: Arrive At Paro And Drive To Thimphu

      Day 1: Arrive At Paro And Drive To Thimphu

      Descend into the fascinating Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by your private guide with a traditional white scarf of auspiciousness and begin your journey towards Thimphu. 

      On the way, stop at the invigorating Tachog Temple located across Paro river.

      Upon reaching Thimphu city, sprawled along the valley of Wang Chu (Thimphu River), visit the vibrant Buddha Dordenma statue at Kuenselphodrang and discover the historic Tashichho Dzong. Later explore the only city in the world without a single traffic light before retiring to your hotel to reset and acclimatize to this altitude.

      Day 2: Journey To Golden Punakha Valley

      After a good breakfast, begin your journey to Punakha valley, the ancient capital of Bhutan until 1955. 

      Ascend 3,100 meters to Dochu La (Pass) adorned with 108 Chortens (Buddhist shrines) and bright colored prayers flags. On a clear day you will also be able to see some of the highest peaks of Bhutan from the Mountain Pass. 

      Continue to Punakha, winter place of the central monk body. Visit the thriving Sangchen Dorji Lhuendrup Nunnery and participate in an intense butter lamping offering with the Nuns. Explore the village of Talo, home to the temple of the Queen Motherโ€™s protective deity. Visit local family and learn their way of life by engaging in their daily activities; you can try your skills in cooking Bhutanese dishes or learn the art of making butter tea or feed livestock.

      Day 3: Explore Punakha Valley- The Ancient Capital Of Bhutan

      The entirety of the day is dedicated to explore the verdant Punakha valley located at 1,200 meters, making it comparatively warmer and the preferred winter place amongst the Bhutanese.

      After a healthy breakfast, drive along the Mo Chu (Female River) to Nyizergang in the North. Walk uphill from the footbridge to the most elaborately built Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten; a fascinating temple built by the Queen Mother. The fresh glacial river and lush valley amidst elevated mountains is a spectacular view to capture. 

      Following a picnic lunch by the river at Zomlinghtang, a short drive through the valley floor leads to the grand Punakha Dzong, the palace of Great Bliss located magnificently between the Pho Chu (Male River) and Mo Chu (Female River). 

      Later, walk across farmhouses and rice paddies to reach Chimi Lhakhang better known as the fertility temple. It is a popular pilgrim site for couples hoping to start a family. It is alternately known as the temple of the Divine Madman.

      Retrace your steps back over the Dochu La (Pass) for a second chance to view the Himalayan mountain ranges. Hoist prayer flags at one of the highest point of your journey and leave your compassionate aspiration to benefit all sentient beings.

      Wind your way through the Wang and Paro river to reach Paro valley. Upon arriving, take an enchanting hike to the ancient Zuri Dzong. The view of the Paro valley and Paro Dzong from this spot is truly magical.

      Day 5: Hike To Paro Taktsang

      The best for the last, the legendary Taktsang hike is the focus of todayโ€™s activities. Get your energy up at breakfast this morning for a hike to the iconic Tigerโ€™s Nest Monastery. Venture through the pristine surroundings of the monastery resting on a cliff.

      Hike up to Tigerโ€™s Nest - one of Bhutanโ€™s most revered pilgrim sites; get rewarded by the overwhelming sight of the monastery perched on a cliff at 3,120 MASL with the Paro valley 900 meters below. Tigerโ€™s Nest or Taktsang acquires its name from the legend of its foundation, when Guru Rinpoche, widely revered as the second Buddha, arrived from Tibet flying across the mountains on the back of a tigress and meditated here for three months in 8th Century AD. He blessed and preached tantric Buddhism in Bhutan.

      After the hike we will stop at the ancient Kichu Lhakhang that dates back to the 7th century and discover the myths related to the construction to this Lhakhang.

      Relax your muscles with healing traditional hot stone bath and game of local archery.
