Weekend Wonder: A Journey Through Chiapas

Pick up at Casa Conzatti Hotel in Oaxaca at 4:00am (otherwise, additional charge will apply to the price).  Leaving the hotel in Oaxaca with energy and excitement, very early in the morning. During our journey to Tuxtla Gutiérrez, we’ll stop to enjoy a delicious breakfast. Upon arriving in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, we head to the dock to set off on an exciting boat adventure through the stunning Sumidero Canyon. We continue to San Cristóbal de Las Casas, where we will stay in a comfortable hotel. Get ready to experience a day filled with excitement and natural beauty!

After breakfast, we embark on our journey to the indigenous communities of the Tzotzil ethnic group. First, we arrive in Chamula, where we’ll have the chance to immerse ourselves in a world of unique traditions and culture. Learn about the fusion of contemporary traditions and ancient Mayan characteristics that make this place so special. Then, we head to Zinacantán, where you will visit the church and a family cooperative's home. There, you will be greeted with a regional drink and have the opportunity to see the women work the pre-Columbian waist loom. After viewing their handmade products, they will invite us into their kitchen where, with luck, we will have the chance to try their delicious handmade tortillas. At the end, we return to San Cristobal de Las Casas and explore on a city tour. The rest of the day is free for you to enjoy this city rich in history and culture. We spend the night there.

Begin an epic journey as you awaken early in the morning towards Palenque with a stop at the stunning Waterfall of Agua Azul, be amazed by crystal-clear waters and enjoy the natural beauty of its different areas. Your adventure continues towards the majestic Misol-Ha Waterfalls, towering at 30 meters surrounded by a lush tropical jungle. Finally, visit the Palenque archaeological site, a famous Mayan city known for its rich architecture and sculpture. Here you can admire impressive structures such as The Palace, The Temple of the Crossed Foliated, The Temple of the Sun, and many more. An unforgettable experience in nature and in touch with history.
