After lunch break, you will go for a walk to the waterfalls; here you will have some time to swim and fresh after a couple of walking days.

Lake Natron is a fascinating yet eerie salt lake located in northern Tanzania, near the Kenyan border. Itโ€™s renowned for its extraordinarily high alkalinity, with a pH level reaching as high as 10.5, and its striking red coloration, caused by microorganisms like cyanobacteria and red algae. The lakeโ€™s high alkalinity is due to the surrounding volcanic activity, which leaches minerals into the water.

One of the most intriguing features of Lake Natron is its ability to preserve the remains of animals that come into contact with its waters. The high levels of sodium carbonate and other minerals essentially "mummify" the bodies of animals that die in or near the lake, turning them into eerie calcified statues. This phenomenon has been captured in stunning and haunting photographs, depicting birds, bats, and other creatures seemingly frozen in time. Lake Natron is home to a few species of extremophile organisms that have adapted to its environment, including some types of algae and fish. However, very few organisms can survive in such extreme alkalinity, making the lake a challenging habitat.

Lake Natron is a breeding ground for flamingos. These birds are uniquely adapted to the harsh conditions of the lake and its surroundings, nesting on the salty islands that form in the lake during the dry season. The alkaline water helps protect their nests from predators, such as snakes and other birds.

After lunch you drive to the airport to catch your evening flight. This will be a great chance to say goodby to your us and wishing a pleasant flight bacck home.
