Itinerary of your trip Machame Route In 6-Day

  • Day 1 Machame Gate - Machame Camp
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Machame Gate - Machame Camp

      Rising: 56,000ft / 1,830m to 10,200ft / 3,100m

      Stretch: 11 km

      Hiking time: 5-7 hours

      Climatic habitat: Rain Forest

      Shelter: Machame Camp

The first of the best 6-day Kilimanjaro hiking private tour packages from Moshi or Arusha will start with a 50-minute journey from Moshi to the Mount Kilimanjaro National Park Gate. The route goes through the Machame town, which is situated on the mountainโ€™s lower slopes. At this point, we leave the park and go up a ridge through the rainforest on a twisting path. The trail may be muddy and treacherous lower down. Trekking poles and gaiters are a great idea in this situation. Until we arrive at the Machame Camp, we maintain a little distance.

  • Day 2 Machame Camp - Shira Camp
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Machame Camp - Shira Camp

       Rising: 10,200ft / 3,100m to 12,600ft / 3,840m

       Stretch: 9 km

       Hiking time: 4-6 hours

       Climatic habitat: Moorland

Shelter: Full Board Shira Cave Camp

After breakfast, we leave the rain forestโ€™s glades and stay on an ascenting path as we pass a small valley and proceed up a rocky, high ridge that is covered in heather till it finishes. The path now takes a river gorge to the west. Itโ€™s time to unwind, eat, and spend the night in the Shira campsite.

  • Day 3 Shira Camp To Lava Tower To Baranco Valley
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Shira Camp To Lava Tower To Baranco Valley

      Rising: 12,600ft / 3,840m to 12,700ft / 3,860m

      Stretch: 15 km

      Hike time: 5-7 hours

      Climatic habitat: Semi-deser

      Shelter: Full Board Barranco Camp

We proceed eastward from the Shira Plateau along a ridge, past the intersection leading to Kiboโ€™s peak. As we proceed, our course shifts to the south-east in the direction of the "Sharkโ€™s Tooth" Lava Tower. We reach the second junction, which leads us to the Arrow Glacier at a height of 16,000 feet, shortly after passing the tower. We now proceed straight down to the 13,000-foot-high Barranco Camp. We take a nap, eat dinner, and spend the night here. Even if you start and end the day at the same elevation, this day may be extremely important for acclimatization and may help your body prepare for summit day.

  • Day 4 Barranco Camp To Barafu Camp
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Barranco Camp To Barafu Camp

       Rising: 4000m / 13,000ft to 4700m / 15,350ft

Distance: Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp (4600m)

       Stretch: 9 km

       Hike time: 6-8 hours

       Climatic habitat: Alpine Desert

Shelter: Full Board at Barafu Camp

After breakfast, we leave Barranco and make our way to the Karanga Valley campground via a rocky slope, passing the Barranco Wall. We next leave Karanga and arrive at the intersection where the Mweka Trail joins. The Barafu Camp is what we pursue. You have now completed the South Circuit, which offers views of the peak from a variety of positions. Here, we set up camp, have a nap, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the summit day. From here, you should be able to see Mawenzi and Kiboโ€™s peaks.

  • Day 5 Barafu Camp - Summit Uhuru Peak - Mweka Camp
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Barafu Camp - Summit Uhuru Peak - Mweka Camp

       Rising: 4700m/15,350ft to 5895m/19,343ft Down to 3090m/10,150ft

Stretch: 6 km up / 13 km down

Hiking Time: 5-7 hours up / 5-6 hours down

       Climatic habitat: Arctic

We continue climbing to the summit between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers between midnight and 2am in the morning. On the crater rim, Stella Point is reached by traveling northwest and climbing through steep scree. The hardest part of the walk both physically and mentally is this section.

You will take a brief break at Stella Point (18,600 feet), where you will be rewarded with the most spectacular sunrise you are ever likely to see (weather permitting). You might encounter across snow on your hour-long ascent to the summit from Stella Point. You have reached at Uhuru Peak, the highest peak on both Mount Kilimanjaro and the African continent. The sunrise can be seen from the peak by more rapid hikers.

We now begin our ascent from the summit, heading straight down to the Mweka camp site with a lunch halt at Barafu camp then make your way to Mweca Camp for the evening.

  • Day 6 Mweka Camp - Mweka Gate - Drive Back To Moshi
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Mweka Camp - Mweka Gate - Drive Back To Moshi

We continue the descent straight down to the Mweka Park Gate after breakfast so you can pick up your summit certificates. At lower levels, it can be muddy and wet; trekking poles and gaiters will help you get through. Most likely, there will be enough to wear: shorts and T-shirts (keep rain equipment and hotter clothing handy). You travel another hour from the gate to Mweka Village. You will be met by a car at the village of Mweka and driven back to your hotel in Moshi. The 6-day Mount Kilimanjaro hiking private group tour Packages through the Macchame route concludes now.
