      Arrival in Matera and private transfer from Matteotti Station to the hosting structure followed by a welcome drink. Here you will leave the unique experience to sleep in a proper cave rooms  all inhabited by a family of Matera until 1950s then, in 2007, they were completely restored with special care respecting all the structural features of an hypogeum. 

      Accordingly to your scheduled arrival time, you will start a short waling in Matera city center , Dinner at a local restaurant in Sassi Area 

  • Day 2 Matera

      After breakfast meeting with your local guide for a guided tour of the Sassi Area. The old townโ€™s Sassi are formed by two districts slotted in adjoining pits, Sasso Barisano and Sasso Caveoso. In between stands the elegant cathedral, which looks out over the gorge. Rock-cut dwellings are scattered all around, often grouped around small squares called vicinato (โ€˜neighbourhoodโ€™). These distinctive abodes are representative of the way of life for the cityโ€™s inhabitants until around the 1980s (by which point most inhabitants had been forcibly resettled or the dwellings modernised), some of which date back millennia. Scenic tour of the Hypogeum Acqueduct .

      The afternoon is at leisure .  Dinner at your own in Matera.

      Breakfast and departure by private car to the Park of the Murgia to find out about local medicinal plants, The UNESCO World Heritageโ€“listed Murgia Materana Park is one of the most important attractions in the region of Basilicata. Located near the Sassi di Matera, the park is famous for its prehistoric sites, rupestrian churches, and varied wildlifeโ€”and is a fascinating testament to the historic relationship between humans and nature.

      After the hiking tour, a well deserved private  food and wine tasting with a local producer . Afternoon at leisure Farewell dinner at a local restaurant.

      Breakfast. Check out and transfer to Bus/Train Station . On request  transfer to Bari Airport
