Your Laos adventure begins with your arrival in Luang Prabang. Your private driver will meet you at the airport, holding a signboard with your name. He will escort you to your accommodation right in the heart of the city. You can easily explore the city at your own pace or relax at the hotel after the flight.

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and start your city exploration by visiting Wat Visoun, the site of the impressive Thad Makmo stupa, which was constructed in 1514, and is also known as the Watermelon stupa. Its rounded dome has Sinhalese elements in style. Continue your exploration and visit Wat Aham. and the most photographed temple, Vat Xiengthong, which is located in the picturesque area at the end of the peninsular by the confluence of the Mekong and Khan rivers.

In the afternoon, we will visit the former Royal Palace, now the National Museum, where you will see the royal religious relics, paintings, weapons, and jewels of the crown. Later head to Wat Mai, a temple renowned for its golden bas-relief. Closer to the evening we will climb up to Phousi hill where you enjoy the sunset and the panoramic view of Luang Prabang town.

OPTIONAL TOUR - OBSERVING THE ALMS GIVING CEREMONY

An optional early start gives you the fantastic opportunity to participate in the daily morning almsgiving ritual to saffron-clad monks. This tradition is unique to Laos, being the only Buddhist nation still preserving this procession. Next, visit fresh local markets before going back to the hotel for breakfast.

Have breakfast at the hotel and meet your guide. We will transfer you to the pier, where you board a traditional long trail boat. Enjoy a relaxing cruise upstream on the mighty Mekong River. Enjoy stunning mountain scenery and witness the simple rural lifestyle of the locals. At the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Ou rivers, you will reach Pak Ou caves. In these two caves, there are over 4000 sacred centuries-old Buddha images, which are the object of pilgrimages during the Lao New Year festivities around mid-April. Then cruise back to Luang Prabang. On the way, stop to visit Ban Xangkhong, a weaving village, where you can jump into wooden looms with a local expert for hands-on experience.

In the afternoon, we will drive along green rice paddies and farms to one of the most beautiful Kuang Si waterfalls. Enjoy a leisure walk on trails of falls to visit the bear rescued center. Enjoy spectacular views and the orchids inside the park and falls cascade over many calcified tiers and down several hundred feet into a series of cool, turquoise pools. Later return to your hotel.
