      Day 2: Excursion To Torres Del Paine National Park

      The excursion departs around 8 am towards our first destination, Milodon Cave.  Back in 1895 bones of prehistoric animals known as milodons were found in these caves. Nowadays there is a replica of this mammal inside the cave and an informational talk about the geological process formation of the region.  Then we will head towards the national park that boasts impressive landscapes as The Blue Lagoon located 40 minutes before arriving at Laguna Amarga Park. Here you can take a rest, watch the area and take pictures of the horns of Paine that can be seen on the horizon.  We can also observe guanacos, rheas, and condors. This region also homes foxes, hares, chincols, pumas and American lions. Inside the park, we are going to see the Pehoe and Nordenskjold Lakes of intense turquoise color, waterfalls, and glaciers.  We will walk for 15 minutes to arrive to โ€œSalto Grandeโ€ waterfall. We will have lunch and then continue towards the Grey Glacier. We will walk along the riverside and later on, return to Puerto Natales to your selected hotel.

OPTIONAL EXCURSION: FD - Excursion to the Balmaceda & Serrano Glaciers (for an additional cost - please consult) The catamaran will begin sailing along Seรฑoret channel, heading to the northwest to Balmaceda mount while enjoying our breakfast on board. Our first point of interest will be Frigorรญfico Bories which is a historical monument. It was founded in 1913 by Sociedad Exploradora Tierra del Fuego. It was the cityโ€™s largest slaughter of the area for over 60 years. Then, we will go through the Seรฑoret channel to head to Guanaco Island where wonderful toninas (a type of dolphin) can be seen. Later, we will pass by Margot farm where you will see cormorants. We will continue our excursion until Punta de Lobos where we will find sea lions. After that, we will visit a waterfall as well as a cliff where we can see some condors. In each place, the catamaran will stop for some minutes so that we can enjoy the scenery. The journey will continue to Balmaceda mount (2035 metres high) where we can see its homonym glacier, and then we will get off the catamaran at Toro port to begin our one-hour walk on the shore of Tรฉmpanos lagoon accompanied by our bilingual tour guide. We will go through a native forest surrounded by coihues, รฑirres and ciruelillos until Serrano glacier. We will finish our sailing in Puerto Natales.       Santiago is a mixture between the old and the modern, characteristic that we invite you to know. Our tour through Santiago will show the immensity of the city, its varied geography, and civility. We will guide you through Plaza de Armas, Main square of Santiago, where the cathedral, main post office, and city hall are located. You will be told about the origins of our city. The next stop is the civic neighborhood and the surroundings of La Moneda government palace. After that we ฬll drive through some of the old neighborhoods of Santiago, like Republica and Concha y Toro, Later we will visit the eastern part of the city and weโ€™ll see the modern buildings and the changes that they have brought to the neighborhood. We finish our tour in a handicraft store located in an exclusive neighborhood, where weโ€™ll appreciate with a Pisco Sour, Lapizlazuli masterpieces, made with this stone that just exists in Chile and Afghanistan.

      We invite you to walk through the beautiful streets of Valparaiso, one of the main ports of Chile and named World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2003. You will be able to watch from its balconies the marvelous bay and the colorful hills that have inspired famous artists like painters, architects, musicians and ports such as Pablo Neruda. 

      We will discover the city, following the steps through the hillsides and the different artistsโ€™ lives.

      After lunch, we will visit the citu of Viรฑa del Mar, a coastal city neighbor of Valparaiso. Its beaches and boulevards surrounded with palm trees and beautiful parks have five the name of Ciudad Jardin (Garden City). Viรฑa del Mar is a popular weekend and holiday destination for people of Santiago, despite its cold waters due to the Humboldt Current.

      The Moon Valley is well known for its amazing geological stone formations of extraordinary beauty. Located in the Cordillera de la Sal, it represents an extraordinary attraction because of its resemblance to the moon ฬs surface and its enormous natural coliseum. We will depart from your Hotel in San Pedro and head to the Cordillera de la Sal (Salt Mountain Range), very rich in minerals. We will first arrive at Valle de la Muerte (Death Valley), a mountainous and sandy site with a particular geographical beauty. Its salt formations look like sculptures and works of art. We will then continue on to Valle de la Luna (Moon Valley), a small depression of saline ground, containing a number of small, sharp-crested hills where once there used to be a lake. This unique place is famous for its natural mineral sculptures, one of them is Las Tres Marรญas formed by wind erosion. It truly resembles a lunar setting. There are also caves and mineral deposits of a stone very similar to quartz. We will end the tour by admiring the sunset from La Gran Duna (The Great Dune) with its majestic display of colors.
