      Welcome to Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu Province on the ancient Silk Road. Upon arrival Lanzhou, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in the city. Enjoy your free time for the rest of today if you arrive early.

  • Day 2 Lanzhou To Xining By Car

      Lanzhou To Xining By Car

      City tour in Lanzhou before moving to Zhanye in the afternoon by fast train. You will visit the Yellow River, Provincial Museum(Close on Mondays), Waterwheel Park, Zhongshan Bridge.

      Take 2-hour car ride to Xining in the afternoon, which is the capital of Qinghai Province.

  • Day 3 Xining To Qinghai Lake And Chaka Lake

      Xining To Qinghai Lake And Chaka Lake

      Today you will take 4-hour car ride to view the largest inland lake in China, the Qinghai Lake. Then move to the Chaka Salt Lake, which is renown for the mirror-like lake surface. 

      Later, you will come back the Xining city.

  • Day 4 Xining To Zhangye By Car

      Xining To Zhangye By Car

      Today you will visit the Kumbum Monastery in the morning, which is one of the six well-known Tibetan Buddhism monasteries for yellow-hat sect. There are impressive paintings, statue, and yak-butter carvings etc. in the monastery.

      Then you will take 6-hour car ride through the Qilian Mountains to Zhangye, view the impressive grassland and snow-covered mountains on the way.

  • Day 5 Zhangye To Dafo Temple, Mati Temple, Danxia

      Zhangye To Dafo Temple, Mati Temple, Danxia

      Visit the Dafo Monastery after breakfast in the city, which is also the city museum to display the long history of Zhangye in the ancietn time. The huge sleeping Buddha is the highlight of the temple.

      Then you will head to Matisi Monastery to visit the Tibetan Buddhism monastery.

      Afterwards you will take one-hour ride to Danxia Mountains to view the colorful Rainbow mountains this afternoon. This is very popular site recent years on the Silk Road for its impressive red, yellow, white and black clay on the mountains. 

      Later you will be transferred back to your hotel in Zhangye.

  • Day 6 Zhangye Danxia To Jiayuguan By Car

      Zhangye Danxia To Jiayuguan By Car

      Take about 2-hour ride to Jiagyuan this morning. Then you will visit the military fortress Jiayuguan Fort that is a UNESCO cultural heritage on the ancient Silk Road. Afterwards, you will climb up the imposing Overhanging Great Wall. Visit the impressive tomb brick carvings in the ancient Wei and Jin Tombs.

  • Day 7 Jiayuguan To Dunhuang By Car

      Jiayuguan To Dunhuang By Car

      Take 5-hour ride to Dunhuang in the morning, and view the stunning snow-capped Qilian Mountains, Gobi Desert and Oasis towns on the way. Then wander around the Singing Sand Dunes and Crescent Moon Spring in the afternoon. You have opportunity to ride camel at the sand dunes. 

      You can explore the night market or watch Dunhuang performance copied from Mogao Caves this evening.

  • Day 8 Dunhuang: Mogao Caves And Dunhuang Museum

      Dunhuang: Mogao Caves And Dunhuang Museum

      In the morning, you will visit Mogao Caves, the gem of the ancient Silk Road. The early history of Mogao can be track back to the 4th century, and built many times in the history. The colorful fresco, statues in Mogao Caves display various stories about Buddhism.

      After lunch, you will visit the new Dunhuang Museum (Close on Mondays) where you can see the exhibition and relics from stone age to modern time, displaying the splendid history in Dunhuang area. 

      You can explore the bustling Dunhuang night market in the evening.
