      On arrival at Kathmandu airport, you will be met by a representative from Sherpa Expedition Teams who will take you to your 3-star hotel followed by a briefing regarding the Kongma La Pass & Cho La Pass Trek, hotels, lodges   You can then choose to rest at your hotel or wander around Thamel and do some last-minute shopping.

      The flight from Kathmandu to Lukla takes around 35 minutes, time enough to take in the impressive views of the Himalayan Mountains. After landing at Tenzing-Hilary airport you begin your journey with an easy trek passing a Kani (ceremonial arch-like gateways) before the trail descends and leads above Kyangma village - with its large Gompa (monastery) and school. We then head to Cheplung Village where the trail passes through a forest within sight of the Dudh Kosi River. After crossing the suspension bridge you climb over the ridge to Ghat and then pass a school and complex of Mani walls, Chortens, and prayer wheels before arriving at Phakding.

      This morning we trek over several suspension bridges of the Dudh Kosi River before passing through Tok-Tok, Benkar, and Monjo before arriving at Sagarmatha National Park entrance gate where you will be required to buy a permit. After following the river bed for a few hours and after crossing the last Hillary suspension bridge, there is a steep uphill trek to Namche Bazaar. Namche has a good assortment of restaurants, a cyber cafรฉ, pubs, post office, ATM and banks.

  • Day 4 Day 4: Exploration & Acclimatization At Namche Bazaar.

      Day 4: Exploration & Acclimatization At Namche Bazaar.

      Acclimatization is vitally important for your safety before heading to higher elevations. It is strongly recommended that you stay active during the day, so we will go for a dayโ€™s trek through the towns of Khunde and Khumjung, taking in the stunning views of Everest, before returning to Namche. Besides Everest, weather permitting can also see Lhotse, Ama Dablam and many other spectacular peaks. After breakfast, we will trek to Syangboche airstrip (3790m), from where we ascend towards Khunde. From Khunde we take the trail heading east to Khumjung (3790m), the largest town in the Khumbu district, at the foot of the Mt. Khumbila (translated โ€œGod of Khumbuโ€). After a lunch break at Khumbu, we head to Everest View Hotel, acknowledged for its magnificent views of Everest before heading back down to Namche (3540m), a 4 to 5 hour trek.

      The trail to Tengboche zigzags and takes us past many valleys before arriving at Kenjoma, where it connects with the path from Khumjung. The views of Everest and Mt. Ama Dablam are spectacular along this section of the trek. We pass the small village of Sanasa from where the path descends to Phunki Thanga (3250m) before a steep ascent through pine forests while passing more Mani stones as the trail hugs the slope before arriving at Tengboche (3870m). Tengboche is famous for its moving views of many of the worldโ€™s tallest peaks, such as Kwangde (6187m), Tawachee (6542m), Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse (8501m), Amadablam, Kantega and Thamserku.

      Today we descend on a 3 to 4 hour trek passing through forests before crossing the Imja Khola and passing through the village of Pangboche, unforgettable for its fields encompassed by rock walls.

      Health specialists recommend we spend the day being active, rather than sitting idle. Todayโ€™s trek is quite easy going and begins at around 8:30. The trek up to Chhukung is relatively easy and we get a really good view of most of the mountains, especially Ama Dablam. In Nepali culture Ama Dablam means "Motherโ€™s necklace"; the long ridges on each side like the arms of a mother (ama) protecting her child, and the hanging glacier thought of as the Dablam, the traditional double-pendant containing pictures of the gods, worn by Sherpa women. Further along the trail and up the valley crossing moraines we head in the direction of Island Peak. Looking back to the south-west, we have great views of the eastern face of Mt.Ama Dablam. From here we head downhill and then back to Dingboche for the night. 

  • Day 8 Day 8: Trek From Dingboche To Chhukung (4,750M) 3-4 Hours.

      From Dingboche, it is a short trek to Chhukung, the last village in the Khumbu area close to the Imja Tse Valley. From this vantage point, you will have some grand views of snowcapped mountains such as Mt. Makalu in the east. After arriving at Chhukung in the early afternoon you will be free to trek up to the summit of or hike to Chhukung Ri (5559m) for even more mountain views.

      We are up before dawn and trekking along an icy path and then a stony trail beneath Kongma La Pass and Kongma Peakโ€“ also known as Mera Peak. We then cross Kongma La Pass at (5,535m) situated between Mt Nuptse Wall, Mohare and Pokalde peaks. After a tough climb towards Khumbu Glacier and moraine (rocky ground), we take a steep trail up to the base of the Khumbu Glacier and then arrive at Lobuche for an overnight stop at a warm and comfortable lodge. 

  • Day 10 Day 10: Trek From Lobuche To Gorak Shep (5170M) & Everest Base Camp (5364M) & Return To Gorakshep 6-7 Hours.

      Today we cross the moraine of the Khumbu Glacier and along the trail pass the signpost pointing to the Italian Pyramid (scientific research center). Further along the trail, we sight the crest of the north ridge of Everest, as well as Mt. Pumori, Mt. Mahalangur, Mt. Lingren, Mt. Khumbutse & Mt. Nuptse. A short climb takes us to Thangma Riju from where we have a 360-degree panoramic view of the snow-capped mountains. A steep climb, and crossing the Changri Nup Glacier, we get our first glimpse of Kala Patthar, a rocky knoll below Mt. Pumori. After reaching Gorak Shep we have stunning panoramic views of the surrounding snow-covered peaks including Mt. Everest.

      A pre-dawn trek takes us to Kala Patthar (known as black rock) a well known attraction that offers the most awesome panoramic view of surrounding giant peaks including a close-up of Mt. Everest. We then head back to Gorak Shep and then to Dzongla, at the base of Cho-La Pass.

      Rising early we trek to Thangnak and get a splendid view of Mt Cholatse (6440m). The trek heads in a westerly direction from Dzongla. Today is the hardest day of our trek as we head to Cho La Pass (5420m). On reaching the highest point of the valley we head through Cho La Pass taking in some incredible views of Chola Lake and Mt.Ama Dablam. The climbing can be very difficult due to being rugged and with the rocks glazed over with ice. Upon reaching the top of the pass we then head down to Thangnak โ€“ a more easier descent.

      An early morning start and we begin our trek to the small village of Gokyo at the base of Mt Gokyo. Along the trail we will have some more incredible mountain views. After leaving Longponga (4720m) we head uphill on a trail that leads to Gokyo with a splendid view of Tanjung Cho Lake (4710m). After a short walk along the edge of the Ngozumpa Glacier (36 km is the longest glacier of Nepal) and crossing to the other side of the glacier we then have some great views of Gokyo Lake.

      Up early again we climb Gokyo Ri  (5333m) to take in a magnificent view of the enormous Ngozumpa glacier (36km long), and views over the upper Gokyo Valley and the peaks of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Nuptse, Cho-Oyu, and Gychung Kang.  We will stop for breakfast and then descend to Dole.

      Today is nearly all down-hill as we pass through the Sherpa village of Dole with the soaring mountains behind us. We then continue on to the famous Buddhist town of Namche bazaar that is predominantly a Sherpa town very popular with trekkers.

      This is the last day of trekking before returning to our starting point at Lukla. This is where you can stop and reflect on our trek. A free afternoon allows you time to relax and enjoy a hot shower! In the evening we will celebrate with a few drinks and dance.

      Today we take an early morning flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. Your guide will continue to assist you with souvenir shopping or sightseeing. This evening is our farewell dinner at a traditional Nepali restaurant along with a traditional cultural dance show.
